Meet The Parents - Starring BHAV and DEE (Pics included)

As most of you are aware, I have been away from RD last week because I went to see my significant other half, Deena (aka d4eva) and then at the weekend, met her parents....

In summary, I had a great time, spent 3 days with Deena at her uni, then 2 days with her family. Had a good chat with her dad and its all hunky dory.

People wanting more details, read below :-

Day 1 - Tuesday 2nd Aug

3pm, I left the world of RD, filled my car up with fuel and got on the road to Deena’s uni place in Oxford. Got there just as her mum, aunty and cousin left, saw the new house and met her friend Rebecca again. Chilled for a little while before going shopping to get a few things and pick up 2 large Pizza's for the 3 of us to eat (they lasted us 3 days ). Had an early night because of my travels

Day 2 - Wednesday 3rd Aug

Woke up late-ish, laid around in bed, watched TV. Rebecca decided to leave for home that day (earlier then planned) and I couldn’t stop thinking it was my fault... Sorry Rebecca, if you ever read this! I then cooked vagharela (curried) beans with waffles and while eating, we watched Dhoom. Felicity, another housemate, and her bf arrived. They were busy doing their own thing so Deena and me decided to go out to eat. We had Potato skins, mushrooms, onions rings and I had a jacket potato all washed down with 2 Big Wednesdays... a cocktail of Vodka, Midori, Malibu, Coconut milk and Pineapple. Deena started to feel the effect of the alcohol!! Having stuffed ourselves with the food, we went next door to the cinema to see... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have never seen or experienced anything like it. Even though we had got our tickets (before we went to eat) we still had to queue up outside, but worse were the seats. I’m sure the film was good, and from what I remember it was, Deena was dosing off a bit it was definitely the effects of alcohol … but I couldn’t concentrate on it because the leg room was appalling, I’m not the tallest person ever but even still my knees were lodged into the seat in front. Add to that the fact I was a little tired still (fell asleep 2wice), I don’t think that was the best cinema experience (it was the first time we went cinema together).

Day 3 - Thursday 4th August

Got up, shower, got ready and we hit the town centre for a bit of shopping. I got some shorts, jeans and a t-shirt. Deena saw the most gorgeous sandals ever in Faith We ate in this little cafe but that was one nice sandwich! But the best was just after, when we visited Ben cookies.... OMG are they soooooo nice!!! Deena kept going on about how nice they were but you don’t realise how nice till you have one, esp. hot so the choc is gooey mmmmmm . Went to her old uni flat to give her keys back but while we was there, we were reminiscing about all the good times we had there. It was the place were we first ever saw each other etc..... the good times once we gave the keys in, we went back to her new place where I cooked vagharela bread (curried bread, don’t knock it till you tried it!!), we watched TV and then went to sleep

Day 4 - Friday 5th August

In true desi style, we wanted to leave by 10am but it was 11 before we left, it was the time, the time I met Deena's parents BUT before we got there, we made a stop at Bluewater, the famous shopping mall... the one in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham we walked around, none of us was shopping, I just wanted to see what it was like. I then got a teddy made for Deena at the Bear factory, having persuaded her, which wasn’t easy. You can choose your bear, how stuffed you want it, you can have a talking thing in it, even record your own message...I decided to go for the personal touch with my own recording, a cheesy message, but that’s me! We had lunch, she had a spud-u-like and I had a sandwich (a subway wannabe) but it was nice. Next stop, just before we left, was the famous (in Deena’s house anyways) Krispy Kremes. As we waited in the queue, I could see the glazed doughnuts rolling off the conveyor belt and I was like ‘They don’t look that nice Deena’. Boy was that the stupidest thing I ever said! The lady was giving everyone in the queue free samples and I was hooked, never tasted doughnuts like it ever before!! Got two dozen to take home, guaranteed to get me brownie points

As we approached her hometown of Margate, we stopped and I let her drive my car, seen as she hadn’t driven for a while. Along the route, we went along the coast and in true FOB style, I got my camera out and started talking pictures of the beach, the sea and the people we got to the drive of her house and then it hit me, the butterflies kicked in, my stomach was turning, it didn’t help that I had just ate!! we walked in the house, and it was as if no one was at home, I couldn’t see no one until she led me to her living room, the moment I dreaded, I met her father. He was sat behind the door, watching the news. Did the manly thing and shook his hand, he was very polite and warm which eased me loads. Deena then whisked me away to meet her aunty and her little brother who was outside in the garden. Usual greetings but they couldn’t reach a high branch so I got up and cut it for them, aunty was apologetic saying that the moment you come, we got u working,

Then I was just stood around, not knowing what to do, Deena suggested sitting in the sitting room, where there was only her dad, I was like no way, not on my own, so she had a word with her little bro (bagy) who came and sat there with me. All was silent, as her father was watching the news and so was I. It was only a minute or 2 before her brother blabs out, ‘Dad, Bhav is nervous, I just had to say it otherwise we’ll all be sat in silence!’
My face just turned red, her father just laughed and said don’t be nervous, just relax.
A lot easier said then done!
Bagy and I then went up the road to a family friends shop (who we shall meet in detail later on). I had met aunty a fortnight ago and she was chatting to me but Uncle thought I was there cousin, until aunty cleared things up for him and he said, Ohhh, so your deena’s friend

We went to pick Deena’s mummy up from their shop where I also met her uncle, who shit me up because he said ‘ has anyone interviewed you yet?’ She’s our precious niece, someone needs to interview you!’ Thank god he was joking, I was crapping myself, he was the loud intimidating type! hew:

Having reached home, we ate, the family together, Deena’s parents, aunty, brother and her 14 yr old cousin Dhiren. Dhiren then decided what Deena and me should wear out that night, we were going out for Felicity’s birthday. But neither of us could be bothered to dress up or even go out but we had to, we just went to a bar and returned home at 12.30am before nodding off to bed

Day 5 - Saturday 6th August

We got up and came down for breakfast … Deena’s dad and brother were in the shop and after breakfast her mum and kaki decided to go to the shop as well … so it was just me, her and Dhiren at home … we were just cuddling and Dhiren saw us and he told us to carry on because he knows what people get up to I was surprised that dee’s parents would leave us alone together … but they did on many occasions we then got ready and decided and started watching a film and then went out!
Deena showed me Broadstairs beach and then we went over to the next town and saw ramsgate beach! We walked along the top of the cliff and the went down to the beach … but i wouldn’t take off my shoes to go on the sand because i didn’t want them to get sandy (pics available on request)
We then went to the fish and chip shop along the seafront and ate some chips … I had a chip butty
And then we carried on walking along the harbour and saw her friend Lydia working at the ice cream parlour; she smiles more then us two!!… Where we had an ice cream and carried on walking along past the boats and yachts and shared another ice-cream!

We then went home after spending a few hours at the seaside … picked up her brother, met her cousin and went bowling (pic of us sat at bowling available), played air hockey and on the dance machine! It was the first time I went on one of those dance machines, much harder then it looks, trust me!!

Went home and met sujata aunty, sailesh uncle, sheena and shamil, the desi family up the road… they came over for dinner!
Then went upstairs to her dads bedroom and watched ‘main hoon na’ with the kids. Dhiren was on the comp, Baggy on the floor, the rest of of us on the bed. Me and Deena was cuddling up but every time the door knob turned, we’d jump off each other in opposite directions!! Lol It was time Sujata aunty and family left and we join the rest the family downstairs watching the movie Sur, with me and Dhiren munching more ice cream! (Yes, as u can imagine, I’ve put on hell loads of weight!!). The whole family went to bed, leaving Deena and myself alone watching the movie, within 2 mins I jumped from the settee that I was sitting on to sit next to her, once again cuddling up, she lied down in my lap, me playing with her hair, just how she likes it. We started talking bout how we’d feel when normality returns next week (this week) and how weird it would be after the few days we had together, I could see her eyes swelling up so I tried to change the subject but when her head laid back how on my lap, she had tears in her eyes. I wiped her tears away told her not to be sad that im going but be happy that I came and if she every felt down, to turn to the memories that im leaving her with. You’re a sweetheart Deena…. you

Day 6 – Sunday 7th August

Once again, like Saturday, Deena came to wake me up, had to go down for breakfast. We had to go to the shop as Deena and her mummy was doing the second shift. We got there and everything was ok, shop was busy-ish, dad was busy, I thought he was going to tell me directions to go home and I’d be on my way. NOPE!!!! Her dad took me downstairs for ‘THE CHAT’. I was like ok, this is essentially why he wanted me to come down but then I shat myself because Baggy started humming the ‘final march’ tune
I wont bore you with our convo but he said that from what he saw (not a lot but still) that I was a nice lad, he’s cool with things as long as I’m educated (time to get my head in the books for my final year at university), that I’m smart, decent families, that both families get on then its all good. I need to show him that I can stand on my own two feet and we have his blessing (as long as Deena does her education, and I don’t spoil it for her)

That was the chat, went back to the shop floor and then I said my goodbyes, her father came to drop me to the main road back towards London, Deena sitting in my car at the time, I gave her a quick hug and after her getting into her daddy’s car, I made my way home.

This is something i didnt add to copy i showed Dee before posting this.

Dee, you might have shed a few tears on sat night, but i was the one sheddin them last nite, being with you for the few days, then coming back to a place where your not going to be hit me last night, it made me realise how much I really do like you..... love you, miss you like crazy, so wierd that after that time, you not here to give me that hug i want, that kiss i want, your arm around my waist that i want (even when you start tickling me!), the kissiing my nose, the playing with my hair, your head on my chest/shoulder when you sleep..... i miss everything bout u
