jet li is awesome...he was a wu shu champion in china before he got into movies. Kind of a child prodigee...used to compete against adults when he wos like 12 and beat them..."Was awarded his first Men's National All-Around Championship title at the age of 12."

http://jetli.com/jet/index.php?s=bod...shuography&p=0

He helped make wu shu famous.

His movies are amazing too..omg his film fist of legend...the remake of bruce lees fist of fury..is amazing...one of my favourite martial arts movies. Also romeo must die is an awesome movie.

And mate dont think for a minute that muay thai is better than kung fu.

evrybody has diff opinion...in thailand ppl prefer more of muaythai than wu-shu or kung fu etc etc..smiliarly in korea wuld adopt taekwondo over other martial arts...its a matter of where u r ...and wat influences u? muaythai coz it has a gr8 deal of history behind it which i understand!

yh i can understand wot u sayin..i respect all martial arts...there all just as effective as each other in my opinion...so it doesnt really matter wich one u do...the main thing is ur own dedication and ur instructor..if u lack dedication or have a shite instructor then you'll be incompetent at defending urself.
i just love wing chun kung fu

if anyones watched Unleashed youd understand Jet Lis fighting is more raw, its just quickest and most accurate weapon to destroy your opponent, where else Muay thai is street fighting, its very structured and not as flowing motion as kungfu or wushu but it gets the job down.

Lol, Jet Li is a master of his art !

Li synthesized different martial arts traditions (Gun Boxing, Pu Swordplay, Shaolin, Tai Chi, Wushu), gymnastics and athletics. Sensing his ambition, Wu Ben put him through a rigorous training regimen. Li became a junior national champion and joined the Beijing Wushu Team in 1974. He toured the US and performed for President Richard Nixon on the White House. Between 1974 and 1979 he won five consecutive titles (Gold Champion) at China's Martial Competition, and toured over 45 countries in exhibition matches.

you all are neglecting the mind control aspects that kung fu possesses... i suggest you go watch some shaolin monks... even jetli cant compare to them...

although jet li is very good... but a 10 yr old shaolin monk can take him...

i doubt that very much. a 10yr old is unlikely to possess the experience that a skilled practitioner such as jet li would possess. by mind control aspects r u are talking about the internal aspects of kung fu? i persume/think that most of the styles of kung fu if not all possess some internal (ying)aspects as well as external (yang) aspects. So i would expect that jet li learnt some internal aspects whilst practising wu shu kung fu. If not, then i know that he has practised tai ji quan (tai chi) which is the most "internal" style of kung fu...which uses the mind to overcome the opponent rather than brute strength. he would have learnt the "focussing of energy" (chi) that this style is based upon. Shaolin kung fu is very formiddable. As is wu shu.

im referring to the chi style..
the monks i speak of an experienced monk ... u wont be able to pierce his body with a sword...

and i seen a 10 yr old monk trust me jet li and him would have a tough match.... they are very skilled and only train for martial arts till a young age... then the learn the chi aspects of it..
