Default My Transformers Story: Dark Reflection

I love the Transformers... don't know who remembers them, but I'm sure there are some fans here and there... you know, robots in disguise

Anyway, I wrote a fan-fiction a few years ago, but I stopped after writing Chapter One. I've decided to get my 'creative juices' flowing, I'd re-write/re-edit it and put it out for people to read who might be transformers fans. I'm hoping this will also get me back into the mood to write.

So without further adeu (and if you are a Transformers fan, I hope you enjoy it... its a 'darker' version of the show, more adult oriented):

- Chapter One -
The Message

New York City.

Rush hour.

Like sharks in frenzy men and women scurried about, trapped in a daily routine that had become the entirety of their lives. They pushed and shoved against each other in hopes of reaching their respective apartment, dreaming of a few hours of normalcy and a night of blissful sleep.

Like rats in a maze… The chilling thought flashed through the mind of Starscream as he soared majestically through a cloud bank, flanked on either side by Skywarp and Thundercracker. He viewed the human germs with distaste. They rushed toward the subway systems in groups or joined a city-wide line of automobiles in their quest for hearth and home.

Starscream checked his internal chronometer. They were on schedule, and the less time he had to view the humans the better.

“Thundercracker,” Starscream spoke pleasantly though their communication link. “Announce us.”

“At once, Wing Commander.” Thundercracker replied, peeling off from the formation.

The air began to rumble, a portent of the coming storm converging ominously above the Empire State Building. All eyes craned skyward to see if rain was in the forecast. Without warning, a thunderous crack split the air like an army of thunder bolts and a futuristic dark-blue F-15 roared across the sky, white contrails spinning off its wings.

Slowing down after its supersonic flyby to wag its wings mischievously, the fighter came millimeters from clipping off the tip of the Empire State Building.

Gary Holbrooke, a Wall Street broker scratched his head, his neck craned up to view the fighter.

“I wonder what the military is doing?” he mused out loud.

Samantha Clay, a young woman in a red skirt stopped and also looked up.

“I don’t know… but we shouldn’t be worried, should we?”

“Nah.” A familiar looking teenager in a worn Metallica T-shirt replied. “We don’t have anything to worry about it they’re ours… they are, right?”

“I hope so… but what if they aren’t?” The stockbroker retorted. “Why the hell would the military paint one of their aircraft bright red? To attract attention to itself?”

“I… I don’t know.” The boy answered. He looked over at the frightened woman. “I’m Spike. Spike Witwicky… I’m just visiting the Big Apple, but let me tell you, I didn’t expect to see this!”

She looked back and offered him a weak smile. “I’m Samantha… so you don’t have any idea what’s going on?”

Before either man could answer, the other two F-15’s soared by. The first shimmered like a mirage while its companion intentionally drew attention on itself. Starscream bled through the sky, wings laden with a pair of sophisticated looking missiles. He watched the terrified masses below, breathing in their sense of panic like a narcotic.

“Show these gnats we mean business.” Starscream said to Skywarp.

“It shall be done.” Skywarp replied, shimmering and vanishing to the astonishment of the New Yorkers. Landing gear already down, the black fighter materialized in front of Samantha Clay and bore down on the startled woman. She screamed it terror, frozen like a deer caught in headlights.

Gary grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the way an instant before the fighter screamed past them. It skidded to a halt several meters away.

The crimson F-15 came to a halt above the Empire State Building as its colleague peeled off and descended toward the ground. Spike gulped. He was filled with foreboding and a sense of dread.

“Are you alright?” He asked Samantha.

“Yes, I’m…”

“No time for that, let’s get the hell out of here!” Gary shouted, cutting her off.

As Gary, Samantha and Spike stumbled past the ebony fighter, the F-15 lurched up onto mechanical legs. Wings folded back as arms extended out from hidden compartments concealed in its chest cavity. It flexed its fingers as panels slid aside to reveal needle like weapons. The cockpit separated into two segments and slid into the recess of its main chest compartment. The arms came to rest in front of the wings as they spun upright to form what resembled the wings of an enormous black Angel. A dark purple symbol etched on both wings lit up and was mimicked seconds later by the robot’s head as it revealed itself, eyes pulsing with life.

It scanned the humans with glowing red eyes, a lip curled up into a sneer. Analyzing their negative threat value, Skywarp turned to watch his companions.

The frightened trio ran. Spike Witwicky bolted into a dark alley, outdistancing his companions. An instant later a high pitched scream of primal terror issued from the alley. Gary and Samantha faltered, backing away in terror as a metallic black jaguar materialized out of the shadows, fresh blood oozing down its maw.

“Oh my God! They killed Spike!” Samantha shrieked.

The second F-15 transformed in mid air into another mechanical giant. It landed beside its companion, crossing its arms and staring at the humans with contempt.

Hovering menacingly above New York City, the blood red F-15 primed its missiles. Targeting the Empire State Building, it fired. The missiles flared into life, impacting with unimaginable force and imbedding themselves deep within the superstructure. The F-15 abruptly pulled away, rapidly gaining altitude.

In a blinding flash of light the missiles disintegrated, sending an electromagnetic shockwave through the city. Every mechanical device short circuited in an instant. The buildings around the Empire State Building shook violently, windows shattering in a chorus of raging voices. People collapsed, struck dead in droves by a wave of ambient energy that rippled out in a circular pattern, stopping inches from the huddled forms of Cary and Samantha.

Skywarp and Thundercracker weathered the electromagnetic storm, shielded by advanced circuitry.

“Watch them die, Thundercracker.” Skywarp said to his companion as men and women fell dead around them. “Starscream’s right. They’re pathetic.”

Thundercracker nodded in agreement. “Yeah. I guess their shielding isn’t as advanced as ours.”

The Empire State Building began to fall in on itself like a sand dune, blown away by a gust of wind. In its place a metallic blue-gray webbing stretched across the surface, beginning at the missiles’ entry points and running down the collapsing building in strings faster then the human eye could follow.

In the span of approximately one minute the entire building was covered in a sheath of the unknown substance. It hardened, taking the shape of circuitry.

The Empire State Building had been transformed into an alien Spire.

Skywarp and Thundercracker turned and strode toward the building.

“Ravage,” Thundercracker spoke, looking past Gary and Samantha. “Show these humans that we, too, understand compassion. Spare them.”

The pair jumped, startled as the metal jaguar paced by them. They had not even realized it was standing behind them the entire time they were cowering.

Ravage stared at them, narrowing its eyes as it studied their faces. “Consider yourselves fortunate, meat.” Ravage growled, loping past the paralyzed couple.

The sheath around the building spread like a ripple in a pond, permitting the three robots access. The membrane closed behind them.

Above the frightened New Yorkers, the crimson F-15 spoke. Its mechanical voice boomed menacingly over Manhattan, filled with cruelty and hatred.

“Leave the tower alone. This is the only warning you will receive. If you ignore our… request, there will be dire consequences.”

Another opening near the top of the Spire waved aside, and Starscream dove in.

Gary and Samantha stared at the Spire for a few moments in silence. They turned and looked at each other. Embracing passionately, they began ripping at each other’s clothing and kissing furiously. The end of the world had surely arrived.

End Part One
