A serious questions for people who know theives.

I was at the ER with my mom this morning and I really had to pee. My mom was inside so I couldn't leave my stuff on the chair (including my PDA that cost my boyfriend $450). I decided to pick it all up and search for the nearest restroom. I go do my business and come back and I see that my seat was still vacant so I go sit down over there again. There was a movie on TV so I decided to watch it. After the movie was over, I started looking for my PDA (the battery was only half full since I was listening to it in the morning) and it was no where to be seen. My entire bathroom experience was no longer than 5 minutes (altogether, including the searching process, pee-ing process, washing hands, coming back...etc). This is when I went to lost and found and started freaking out. No one had turned it in. I made a report...nothing. Now, the baby in me kicked in. I called my boyfriend and told him what happened and tears started rolling down my cheeks. Soon I was bawling in the middle of a room filled with gross smelly people.

Now, during all of this, there was a black man who was going thru the trash cans and picking up the McDonald bags & coffee cups (there's a McDonalds inside the building). The security people said that they think it might be him but they refused to check him because he's homeless and smells bad. WTF?!

((I was still crying))

Now, I'm not really worried about the actual PDA but I'm worried about the information & pictures that were on there. Nothing dirty, but still...nothing I could completely classify as "decent." Plus the telephone numbers and all.

Here's my question for you :

If you were a theif, would you delete everything without checking it all so you could sell it asap or would you mis-use what you had found.

I know it all sounds really immature and stupid...but honestly. I'm scared.

chances are he wouldnt be smart enough to know how to use that information for a profit, other than try to extort you. that would be dumb though because then you call call the cops on him pretty easy

Yeah...I feel stupid but I really really want it back. I had so many memories attached to it. I would listen to it while going to sleep and I would play tic tac toe on it. It was just like a piece of technological heaven in one.

How would I know he's using it? I mean the battery life left on it was only 3 hours but what if he get's another charger?! Do you think that's possible? Everything was on an SD card. Hopefully he loses that.

he will probably try to sell it, he probably had no use for it. if he knew how to use it he would probably look in the card for credit card info and stuff if you had it. but if you didnt id bet hed erase it so no one can trace it back to you if he sells it.

Not as bad as my ex-roomie...he went to the bathroom..put his phone down on the counter so he could wash his hands...and the dumbass left it there..went back 5 min later..it was gone!!
