Default "The Namesake"? *Spoiler Alert*

It has good reviews.

I am never going to read that novel. So I will watch it.

Heads up to the Bengalis here.

Did you read her first book?

Which is better? I am willing to read one just for the sake of my sanity.

The trailor looks good. Would be interesting to see Kal Penn in a role like this, unlike his previous trashy comedy roles.

my colleague already saw the movie at the critics screening. She said it was horrible. But I dont know..sometimes our tastes dont match.
But I have read the book. Its excellent. No way the movie can match it. Movies never do. Most of the time they end up butchering the book.

Na, I haven't. I want to, though. But, I did hear it was really good. She's a pretty vivid writer. Like, if she writes about food....your mouth waters. Hhaha. Good writer, in my opinion.

Yea, true say. Books tend to be better than the movies. Did you read her fist book?

I read a few good reviews. But then they were all by westerners. Our perspective could be different.

Have you read any fiction by V.S. Naipaul?

That's so true.

I once saw a movie based on a Naipaul novel. It was atrocious. I wish I had not seen it and just read the book

My colleague is a westerner too. But I dont know. I dont have much expectations cos the book itself was so damn good.
If you're thinking of reading one of Lahiri's book, try with the first one, Interpreter of Maladies, its a collection of short stories, and if you're not that big of a book reader you dont need the patience you normally need to invest yourself in a novel.

Cool! I love short stories.

I used to love the ones by Somerset Maugham.
