So I was setting up some satchel charges

on a road at 1400 hours while my colleague was placing land mines around our position in preperation for a convoy of BMP's and Transport Trucks... at exactly 1408 we identified the convoy at 500 meters headed from our 3 o'clock position. We promptly took action on this intel and adopted a prone position in some nearby bushes in a place where we had previously set-up camp. We hurriedly extinguished our camp fire so as not to give smoke signals to the enemy. We were running low on ammo and I had maybe 3 mags for my M21 while my colleagues carl gustav had maybe 3 rounds at best. I set the convoy in my sights and nervously held on to the remote detonator for the satchel charges... one chance is all we had so we were living on a prayer...

well,
i mean if this actually happened, it was blatantly in a computer game or something.....
if u have such limited ammunition, it is un-necessary for u to engage with those superior ground forces, u have already utilised ur trump card by laying the landmines........any gunfire will only be met with counter fire....unless ur trying to martyr urself or something....
u should just retreat to a safe posistion and detonate the charges at an appropriate time....

ALSO

if u lay mines, then sit around and light a camp fire.... U R A DUMB ARSE.... i mean seriously, that kind of shit only happens in movies, dont even bother laying a campfire.....eat sandwiches u numpty!

The mission was as real as it could possibly be and entailed engaging the convoy and since we were a resistance force i.e. in the middle of a war as civilians, our plan was to gain access to an ammo dump by taking out the convoy headed for it. In other words, the ends justify the means. Land mines were placed around our camp site in case any armour attempted to come close. The three remote satchel charges were placed along the road roughly equidistant so as to take out as much of the convoy as possible. Any remaining armour was to be taken out by the RPG/Carl Gustav and the rest is history...

I waited patiently and watched the road through binoculars to worked out when to detonate the charges. *Boom* up the convoy went... as expected the convoy had further support and in the distance we could hear the distinct sound of an Mi-24 hind throttling up over the hill. My colleague spotted a BMP-1 headed from the east side while I could hear another vehicle coming from the west. Simultaneously, the Mi-24 started stalking us, however, us laying low in the bushes and surrounded by rocks didn't make spotting easy. On the eastern horizon, a small platoon of troops could be seen. My colleague took out a few with the M-21 while laying low. All of a sudden we found ourselves being flanked from the south of our position by paratroopers who had HALO'd (High Altitude-Low Opening drop) from the Mi-24 hind...

and it just sounds silly, im sorry but it does, its just not believable,
oh and u cant HALO from a chopper, thats half the point, a HALO requires a hi-altitude flyover, and u telling me the hind was plus 20,000 feet?, more likely they just roped down from the hind, or the hind just landed, let go off the troops and carried on

OK, I agree there is a technical flaw there. What I should have said was LALO'd (still it was fairly high up) and not enough time to reach terminal velocity. The hind has a ceiling of almost 15,000 feet afterall.
