Default The Namesake.

'Sup people.

So I've been reading this book, and for some reason I am really angered by it...I've gotten to the part of Moushumi's affair and I am enraged by it...I was sitting on the train reading and I wanted to throw the book out the doors...

Maybe Lahiri aimed to get the reader angry about it, or maybe she just hit a sore spot because I know what it feels like to be cheated on...has anyone read it? can they see differently about it?

In other news, my grandmother passed away on Friday from Variant CJD. A very slow, painful death. Her funeral is on Thursday.

I'm leaving for India on the 25th of this month...

thats all for now.

Yes I would recommend the book for one to read...for most of the book, i find myself understanding/being empathetic to the main character and his life changing ways. I don't agree with them, but I can understand why he would take such paths.

It was just this cheating thing that really pissed me off...

I was actually thinking of this book today, because I finished her other book "interpreter of maladies" and considered reading this one...

seems like it hit a nerve (which can be a good thing)

I'll read it now lol

How was the interpretor of maladies? The namesake is very crude...she can't stop talking about sex in it...Gogol sleeps with all sorts, Moushumi sleeps with people...it's quite "modern" in that sense.

It's really strange and doesn't seem to make sense at first fitting all the stories together, but it does make you think a bit.. It's a light read, so I say just go for it.

Then you might be in for a shock on this book - it's far more deeper than what initially meets the eye.

I finished the book last night and i still can't stop thinking about it...it's left a big impression on me, in some ways good impressions and in many ways bad also.

I'd probably read it again in a few years, just to see if my views have changed with time.

thanks for the condolence

yeah I have but I can't talk about it right now, am suppose to be studying.
Just making a suggestion. For people who have already read "The Namesake" and "interpreter of maladies", both really good books, should read " Brick Lane- by Monica Ali". It's a good book.

books have never evoked anger in me..other emotions but not anger

is it fact or is it based on some half truths?
