The Namesake

So how many have you read this novel by Jhumpa Lahiri? What are your thoughts on it? Is it a good read? Give me your insights!

I just bought it but I have yet to read it. It was suggested to me by my bf so I will start reading it tonite.

Also, there was a movie preview on this book on TV the other day and Kal Penn is playing the part of Gogol, the main character. Its said to be out this year. And the old Bollywood actress Tabu is playing the mother's role. The directer is Bollywood's very own Mira Nair, also the director of Monsoon Wedding and Kama Sutra. It should be good!

I actually started reading the book 2days ago, and its pretty good so far, as I am bengali myself, it very much relates to us bongs.

ya i dont very much have to use my imagination cuz i always picture the characters as the actors in the movie...can't help it. Poor dude actually had a name like gogol...

I read the book over a year ago. Very well written and the story is amazing in itself. The movie I think will be a good depiction. Kal Penn made an online blog through out the journey of the shooting for this book. Its pretty interesting because he posted pictures of some scenes and what not. Makes you want to watch the movie even more. Anywho heres the link:
