Desi Weddings...

..Aren't they the most flamboyant, fake and downright cringeworthy occasions ever.

Apart from the "traditional" wedding ceremony itself, everyone pretends that they know everyone else, even though they don't have a fookin clue who the other person is.

Aunties stand there finding another aunty to pose with, so it doesn't look they got no fwends. All the guys have their mobile phone out every second, like fuck I'm sooo popular and cool, people keep texting me! A few of them then proceed to the bar, and then each must pose with the budweiser bottle in their hand.."Oh look, I'm allowed to drink alcohol!. "Da fit one in da green lengha mannn, she's buff innit, *holds up budeweiser bottle clearly, so she can see it*

The unclejis then raid the alky too, and hence start acting weird. Uncle Raj and Sam then proceed to the dancefloor and have a huge sweat patch on the back of their shirts after 2.311 mins. The bhangra music then proceeds the hindi music, offering a golden oppotunity to all the auntijis to proudly show off their back flab, and pose with their "hubbies" for the video that everyone will watch afterwards.

Meanwhile the dude eyeing up the fine makeup caked lady in the green lengha (who seems to be three shades lighter skinned today), gives up and walks out pretending to talk to someone on his mobile.

You then get up to fetch some grub, and then bam!...The third random aunty and uncle of the day are introduced to you.."Oh you've grown!, I saw you when you were only this small," and you are then stumped as to how to respond and offer a constructed smile.

Finally the dessert arrives, and you hear everyone starting to mutter "yeah its getting late..."

Haha, thinking about it, it kinda does.

My exaggeration aside, the image etc all the "proud" desi families try to portray does sometimes get too transparent.
