College is a waste of fucking time and money!

Really it is pathetic. You spend all that time and money and a lot of times after graduation you don't even find a job! How are you gonna repay all those thousands of dollars you have in loans? You also take a lot of bullshit courses that you don't even need, why the fuck do you need American Literature if you want to be an engineer? It's pretty fucked up. Take a minute to look at all the people are who successful today, a large amount of them don't even have a college degree e.g. a lot of hollywood stars all dropped out of college and yet they are very influential, most people wanna be just like them. Take sports fpr example, those guys barely have a high school diploma(if that much) and yet they make more money in one night than most of us will make in a lifetime and how is this justified? Many of us are severly stressed out with school and exams which even leads to a few students committing suicide..how sad. There are many other ways out there to be "someone" in life without going through all this stress which proves my point, college is a waste of fucking time and money!!!!!!!!!

its good to study and learn new stuff...but da fees charged is too ridiculous...my bro is goin to a uni in australia..just the fees alone cost A$ 21,000 per year..and hes goin over for 3 years...

Depends on what you pursue.

Currently it is not a waste of money.

Don't go to a ivy league school and major in history while having a $100,000 debt!

And english is very important for engineers.

But with all the A-list comes the Z-list, complete rejects who are 'trying' to make it. It's a tough world out there, and not everyone can go off and become a movie start or footballer..........u have to have talent!!

I know a lot of ppl lose faith in the system, but I must say that going to Unviersity was the best thing I ever did.

I met my best friend here
I met my future husband here
Made some fantastic friends for life through my course

Learnt sooo much wrt my subject and in general about life
I became a political activist due to the clubs/societies I got involved in
I gained a lot of knowledge about all sorts of things and really broadened my horizons

And of course, now tha tI am graduating in June, I have landed myself a very sought after fanastic job only because of my subject and the University I go to.

Admittedly, not everyone has a great experience and not everyone's course/university is worth something.

I say only bother to go if:

your degree/course is given acclaim in the job market or
if you're willing to delve into lots of debt knowing that you may not be guaranteed a job at all.

Going to university is just as much about the experience as it is about the future career prospects in my opinion.

if people don't learn and absorb knowledge..we wouldn't have this great technology and all. The world evolves faster when theres more knowledge to pass around. thats what i think

I am not saying having an education is a bad deal, its just that its ridiculous as to what you have to put up with knowing that nothing is guaranteed!!!!

Its a hoop you need to jump thru for most office jobs.

But yeah most actors/sports stars don't need college. And some entrepreneurs too. Depends what you want in life.

By college, I think he means actual college not University.

In another thread I mentioned how the Scottish system works. The maximum debt someone can get into is £16,000
