I'm not sure about Jarvis, TBH. Surely he would have been considered for an International call-up if he was good as people make him out to be. I've seen him play. He doesn't really catch my eye. Yes, he has good games, but then again so does Heskey. We've got too many similar players around like him at the moment. He needs to offer more to his game to be seen as a top team player. There's just too much competition in this league. Maybe the situation would have been different if he was surrounded by a half decent team.

My favourite player for Wolves has to be Fletcher. I think he is the reason why it took so long for Wolverhampton's confirmation of relegation. He has been keeping them in the race for survival for aslong as he could. Doyle & O'Hara are decent players, but If you ask me I don't think they'll ever be top club material. They will always be hovering around at average or bottom half premier league teams.

It's the mentality of a small club, reason why Villa will never do well as well.

When it comes to Football, North West > London > Lancanshire > West Midlands.

what the hell happened to tottenhams season dudes

i'd like to see newcastle get that last champions league spot simply for the brilliant signings they have made this season. their scouting network has worked wonders.

Newcastle deserve it. Wise spending, hard-working & the positiveness of Pardew has all helped them. They deserve a shot in the CPL no doubt.

Kevin Foley says he feels "betrayed" by Giovanni Trapattoni's decision to leave him out of the Republic of Ireland squad for Euro 2012.
The 27-year-old defender was stunned on Tuesday after manager Trapattoni dropped him from the 23 despite naming him in the squad three weeks ago.
"It is hard to take. I don't want to go into too much detail. I just feel betrayed," said the Wolves defender.
Trapattoni included Paul McShane in his squad instead of Foley.
McShane had been on stand-by before being drafted into the party as defensive cover last week.
Wolves full-back Foley spent the last week or so working his way back to fitness after a hamstring problem but he insisted that he is now fully fit and played in Tuesday's 5-0 friendly win over a Tuscan Select team.
However, Trapattoni decided that injury concerns over John O'Shea and Darren O'Dea made McShane a better option as he can play at both right-back and in central defence.
"I wanted to prove a point, that I was fit to play because from what I understood, I could have trained last week, Thursday, Friday and been involved in the game [against Bosnia on Saturday]," said Foley.
"I go home tomorrow. I don't want to talk about that."

Kevin Foley declines the offer to remain with the squad

"He [Trapattoni] said there was no rush and we will wait to train in Italy, so I trained for two days in Italy and felt great.
"And then all of a sudden, he pulls me this morning [Tuesday] just before the end and says, 'You are not in the squad', and that is hard to take.
"I have done everything I can. That is all I can do. Words can't really describe it. It was tough.
"The lads have been great, but what happened happened, there's nothing I can do about it now.
"I hope the lads go on and do as well as they can from the tournament."
Trapattoni said after Tuesday's friendly that the decision to exclude Foley had been an intensely difficult one.
The Republic boss invited the player to remain with the squad, which heads for Hungary on Sunday and then Poland two days later but Foley has declined the offer.
"I go home tomorrow. I don't want to talk about that."

Stale Solbakken’s eagerly-awaited arrival has upped the stakes for Molineux’s youngsters according to teenage midfielder Anthony Forde.

The 18-year-old Irish age group international is enjoying the benefits of a new three-year deal which ties him to the club until 2015.

And he admits he and his contemporaries will relish the chance to stake their claim for first-team consideration when Solbakken gets to work with the squad for the first time next month.

“We’ve got a new manager at the club and I think every player will be looking to come back and impress in pre-season,” said Forde.

“That applies to the young players as well. A few of us managed to get a chance last season and we will all be coming back to try and get some games again next year.

“But I know it will be difficult. There are a lot of very good players at the club and competition for places will be tough.

“I just need to carry on working hard and trying to impress and hopefully I can be there or thereabouts.”

Forde made his breakthrough with a first Premier League start against Arsenal at the Emirates last season.

And the one-time Academy starlet added: “I was very pleased to sign the new deal towards the end of last season. I think it always gives you a confidence boost and it’s just that added security.”

Stale Solbakken was today on the brink of finally completing his first Wolves signing after Lillestrom confirmed they have accepted a bid for 2.4m-rated striker Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson.

Agreement on personal terms should be a formality for the 21-year-old Iceland international, pending a medical, with reports in Norway saying he will sign a four-year deal.

Breakthrough arrived after the weekend when the deal appeared to be in danger of stalling over Lillestrom’s demands to keep the player for another three league games, one of which is against second-bottom Fredrikstad.

And they look to have been granted their wish – at a cost to their insurance, covering Wolves if Sigurdarson is injured in the meantime, some sources suggest.

Lillestrom are third bottom, the relegation play-off place, and they want the 6ft 1in frontman to boost their survival bid in the second half of the campaign, which restarts on June 30.

Sigurdarson, who has been heavily scouted by Premier League clubs including Everton, is set to become a Wolves player on July 13, when he is due to play his last game against Tromso.

Lillestrom sports director Torgeir Bjarmann said: “We have received a bid from Wolverhampton for Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson.

“After some dialogue at the weekend, we have accepted the offer.

“It’s now up to Bjorn to agree personal terms with Wolves, and pass the medical. If it’s all right, he’ll move to England.

“The transfer will happen after the home game against Tromso on Friday July 13.”

Of the on-off saga which culminated in Sigurdarson tweeting he was “mentally broken” after claiming he was being forced to stay, Bjarmann said: “It ‘boiled’ a little after the meeting we had last Thursday, but over the weekend has been positive dialogue.

“We wanted him to stay for as along as possible but after Tromso, he will be Wolves player.”

Boss Stale Solbakken today offered Roger Johnson an olive branch and the chance to prove himself at Wolves again.

Johnson had been expected to leave after a disastrous campaign which saw him disciplined for turning up to train showing the effects of alcohol, dropped by Terry Connor and suffer a second successive relegation.

Wolves are prepared to sell the former Birmingham defender but there has been no interest in the player they paid 4m for last summer.

The Norwegian has identified a dominant centre-back as a priority as he prepares for an assault on the Championship.

But he is prepared to wipe the slate clean with Johnson however, and hand the 29-year-old a fresh chance – if he’s prepared to “fight” for the Wolves cause.

“I don’t know him any more than anyone else, so everyone has a chance to fight for a place and put things behind them,” said Solbakken.
“I’ve heard some stories but I don’t place too much value on them.

“We will see what happens. It’s up to him – if he wants to fight for Wolves and have his ‘revenge’, then that’s a possibility.”

Solbakken faces the prospect of assessing a 50-strong squad of professionals, around a third of whom reported back today for physical tests.
Training
And the new boss stressed he will be working with a much smaller number of players.
“I’m not here to keep everyone happy – on a normal training day, I want 22 or 23 players on the training ground,” he said. “The others will be training with the second team, although we will rotate a little bit.”
Solbakken revealed he won’t get to see Stephen Ward, Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt until after the trip to Ireland from July 16-21 following their participation in Euro 2012.
“The Irish guys are coming in after the training camp,” he said.
Homegrown players such as Danny Batth, who enjoyed promotion at Sheffield Wednesday, and Anthony Forde, face a breakthrough season after impressing last term.
Solbakken said: “I will not pick players based on age or what happened last season.
“Now it’s a case of trying to pick the right team.”

This thread should be relegated to the Useless Junk section. It could be moved back here once Wolves are promoted to the Premier League again.

Stale Solbakken

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken today insisted the club must come first as he warned Premier League vultures off snaring their star names on the cheap.

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken today insisted the club must come first as he warned Premier League vultures off snaring their star names on the cheap.

Weekend speculation suggested Matt Jarvis is close to an 8m move to QPR but both the club and other sources claim there hasn’t been any interest, let alone a bid.

The club also say a reported return of Michael Mancienne hasn’t been discussed, despite a story yesterday.

That suggested the defender, who had three loan spells at Wolves, was on Solbakken’s radar following a conversation with Hamburg chief Frank Arnesen.
Jarvis was set to sit down with Solbakken today to discuss his future but, if the one-capped England international is to leave, Wolves want 10m for the 26-year-old who, like Steven Fletcher, has three years left on his contract.

Solbakken accepts money talks and he may eventually lose his star players if acceptable bids come in, but isn’t prepared to lose all his stellar performers.
He said: “If you start shaping a team and then suddenly three or four players are gone, then you start at a disadvantage.

“The club must always come first and we have to see how we can cope with what comes in.”

Solbakken warned fans Wolves must be prepared to lose their star names if the price is right, however.

Stoke and Fulham have asked about Fletcher, while Stoke also have a long-standing interest in Jarvis.

Solbakken said: “You must not be naive. You have to be open-minded.

“You can’t rule anything out – if suddenly there’s an offer you can’t turn down because it’s the biggest opportunity, maybe that opportunity only comes once in a lifetime.

“You always have these situations and it would be naive to say “he will never go, he will never go.

“But it’s also naive to say you can let your best players go and still compete for top six – that’s also stupid.

Former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is set to fly home on Monday and step up discussions to become Nottingham Forest’s new manager.

The 53-year-old spoke to Forest’s new Kuwaiti owners yesterday and has agreed to cut short a holiday in Portugal to return to England after the weekend.

The Al Hasawi family sacked manager Steve Cotterill within a day of taking charge on Wednesday.
