wow do you really train or were you joking? THere actually are a lot of people who train to fight by just training their body, not that I advise it (although I kinda did the same before I met my sifu and really started learning), but who am i to judge..to each his own? how do you specifically train?

I did have to get licensed by the state but that is a new thing they started like 2 years ago when the boxing commision started regulating it. Fighting in the ring is cool, its an adrenaline rush like no other i have had. and its always better if u win. I wouldn't compare MMA to a street fight really, i would just kic u in the nuts and poke u in the eye, maybe even use my shurikens on u lol. wearing weights is good sometimes, dan gable used to do that all the time growing up. i dont know how great it is for u in the long run. gotta go, time to practice my shadow clone jutsu.

What's styles are in your MMA besides the wrestling stuff? Or is it all different types of wrestling, which is fucking crazy as well, I've never seen something like that!

And werrdd..I'm hardcore on that manga. DBZ is probably what made me do a lot of stuff which probably hurt me a bit but added some speed to my body as a kid in high school lol. Like I used to wear ankle weights (and some days wrist too) every day almost 24/7 for like a year (even in my sleep!), which I hear now is retarded because it could have ruined my body lol. But I'm glad because some of that speed stuck with me ^^ Naruto is my shit now too! Itachi ftw...but im more about mangas than anime

Currently doing close combat orientated training.

Did MMA for awhile (was the hardest hitter in the club) def need to get back into it. The boxing was def my high point, ground work was okay.......

Martial arts is an obsession for me, if I don't do it I start falling asleep!

Wow I'm totally the same way! And also I need to do a bit before I sleep just so my body feels great and ready and knock out lol.

What's your current close combat oriented training like? Is it based of other arts or a certain system? What kinda arts are in your MMA?

Boxing is beast, def explain why you were the hardest hitter! The footwork in boxing never ceases to amaze me (offensively and defensively), only because the way I saw (and felt) it was that when your opponent is a non-kicker, you KNOW they're using their legs for something pretty ownage!

study a type of ninjutsu here who 'broke away' awhile back from bujinkan. no hocus pocus just street brutality. reality factor.....also no mats ha ha..

at MMA class, basically we did the combo of boxing+brazillian jiujitsu. alot of conditioning drills, free grappling, punching drills, sparring etc. looking to go back to it asap.

footwork is an essential factor. took me a far while to get it, now its ease. consistancy and practice. thats all it is.

So I called up some places to find out if JKD is offered anywhere, apparently not.
The one place that I did find is like uber-exclusive and the monthly cost is same as our rent + hydro. lol

Thinking about some other alternate forms other than Muay Thai, which seems to be the popular trend these days.

aww damn what a downer!

But yea, what you said about looking for other alternate forms is just as good as well. And I promise you I'm not just saying this just to make you feel better since there are no JKD schools around you, but in reality, Bruce Lee has been looked down by many in the kung fu world not for his abilities (because he was indeed awesome) but because he made JKD a school-taught style (or at least his students did) when in reality its learning more and more martial arts (or anything in fact) straightforward and refining yourself according to what you learned and what worked for you.

so yea, I'm sure whatever you pick up will be ownage after you utilize it, because you have the JKD mind! This is what Bruce Lee was really talking about in the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, especially when his last line told his followers not to get mad at people dissing JKD because its only a name. As long as you have the JKD mind, (which is actually the mind of most martial arts) everything you learn will be utilized to its max!

Out of curiosity what styles are you looking into?

Oh sick! Bujinkan! Thats one of the arts I know verry little about as a whole! What is the fighting like? I heard many arts like Bujinkan and Japanese Juijutsui were so hard core back in the days in Japan that it wasn't TOO surprising if students were to die or sometimes get injured for life! Which is some hardcore shit!

lol... Yea I get what you're saying.
Specificaly I've done the whole physical, going through the motions, defensive/offensive moves, and all that.
And I'm a huge fan of Tai Chi, so I guess ideally I'd like to find a style that focuses on the mental discipline and meditative qualities of a fluid style... along with the physical aspects as well.

Basically what most eastern Martial Arts were supposed to be conceptualy back in the day, before the West corrupted it.
Martial Arts essentially were refective, meditative forms of self discovery and discipline just as much as they were a fighting style used to defend and protect.
But that aspect kind of took a backseat in the West when it became... "Look what you can learn to do! *flying roundhouse* Cool eh?!?! "

Agreed, to a certain extent. I think there is a lack of 'western' martial arts in general... no one has really carried it on as I'm sure the North europeans had a style etc. Russians most certainly did - Sambo. This lack has lead to them modifying eastern arts to their perspective.

Werd, and its the better understanding of self that creates crazy power and strength and such! If you like Tai Chi that's definitely and awesome and incredibly effective style to learn. Tai Chi is the second style I know but Im still at the lower stage of Yang Tai Chi but eventually I learn the long Yang forms and then the Chen, but if you can start with Chen its freaking beastly!

Tai Chi's effective is hard for a lot of people to see, but once you train it you'll realize it is probably the most or one of the most terrifying arts to fight against because its power is incredible even in tiny movements. Tai Chi is def a good looks.

And yea, I'm not a big fan of the extreme martial arts thing either, It def takes some insane skills but I love the beauty of efficiency and practicality n such.
