Seems like everyone is making up threads with a bunch of crap lately...so I think I should be able to also..Oh and this will be my art thread from now on..umm I think I posted some of these before but my stupid scanner isn't working so as soon as it starts I'm going to post more. And if anyone else has any art work post them here...I'd like to see...except kunnyfunt...you make me look bad... :oops:

This is a still life. The reason it's got letters on it is cuz the roses dies before i finished it and i needed to remind myself of the colours. LOL. my colouring skills are shoddy anyways. I'll stick to pencil....

Thanks man. I shoot film, so my camera isn't really important so much as what lens and film I'm using. Nah, i don't do any computer-related effects on my pictures (except a LITTLE bit on the last b&w landscape... I kinda messed up the exposure for that shot so I had to artificially fix some parts).

But in case you're wondering, I have a couple of cameras:

Canon AE-1 (my first camera ever!)
- 50mm f/2.8
Vivitar 3800n (my high school photo camera--its a piece of junk)
- 28-70mm f/something
Canon Rebel Ti
- 20mm f/2.8 USM lens
- 50mm f/1.8 lens

Film: I shoot a lot of b&w film and do the darkroom process. Color: either Fuji Sensia or Velvia.

oh .. usually digital cameras expose pretty well even without a flash.. infact i only doubted it a bit cause the leaves would look much lighter if it was a flash.. but i think i might be wrong in this case..

Digital cameras in general have pretty even and nice exposures, but they're actually pretty weak at picking out details from extremes (brights or darks). The latitude that some black and white professional films provide is amazing.

But I dont' like to get into mechanics that much. If you take a good picture--digital or film-- you da man.

I liked that one too! wicked said its repetitive but i think its still good .. repeating and being able to keep the pattern is pretty hard i think

Nah, sorry to say, but video cameras haven't really progressed too much in terms of individual picture quality.

But you don't need a great camera to get into photography. There are a lot of very very very GOOD cameras for sale on ebay for like $25-40. Camera bodies don't matter as much as lenses and film.

My suggestion if you want to get into photo: buy the cheapest SLR you can. It can be OLD too (in fact, some of my favorite cameras are really old cameras). Just get an old SLR with a 50mm prime lens. 50mm's are cheap, fast and sharp by nature. Then just buy some film and shoot a lot. It is a great hobby.

Your Olympus is alright. Cameras are only tools. I wouldn't get so caught up in hardware. Just shoot A LOT. Although, when you shoot more, you'll develop a taste for some more manual operations and I suggest you look into some of the above cameras.

Best way to tell if a person can draw ! Ask him if he is an ARt student and if he says no and dosent know most of the terminoligy he is probably really fucking good!

I have freind he is The most disgusting artist!! his skill level is Way up there. He can create life like characters and faces from his imagination most art students cant even replicate real faces properly!
He only draws like a few times a year and has no art backround or ever took a course on it.

ah .. the thread has been resurrected.. today we had some great lightning right where i work.. i should have tried to take pics but i was in a hurry to catch the bus.. lightning hit the ground about 2 miles from where i was standing.. it was amazing.. the sky lit up soo well.. i had my camera with me too.. just not enough time..

This is an excerpt from The Davinci Code. I didn't want to make a whole new thread about it.....but it was such an interesting read ...so I had to post it....Long but I thought it was worth it. It's basically about one of the theories of the Mona Lisa.




Standing at an overhead projector in a darkened penitentiary library, Langdon had shared the Mona Lisa's secret with the prisoners attending class, men whom he found surprisingly engaged—rough, but sharp. "You may notice," Langdon told them, walking up to the projected image of the Mona Lisa on the library wall, "that the background behind her face is uneven." i dont like pdas.. having used one for a while now.. laptops are useful at times.. mostly cause i am on the go a lot during the long semesters..
however , the key is to buy a light laptop.. buy a cumbersome one and you will regret it..

took the pic ..then under filter went to artistic - poster edge...don't remember the settings

thanks meg....it's not one of the effects...kind of have to go through some other steps to get it just right...I think I posted it cause reaz had asked me before...it's pretty easy just two steps I think. and your drawings are pretty good I recognize aiez and salina

i just got a letter back from the arts council saying they're approve of my next project being 'sane' enough to be publicly viewed!! hahahahahaha

ahh but ofcorse!!!

ive purchased boxes of tv snackes (chocolate coated biscuits/wafer/other stuff that tastes equally good) eaten whats mostly in the box and left like 3-4 pieces still in the box (now ive bought a few boxes so theres a few of these....) and then put in stuff like left over coffee mixed with coke n pepsi in one...just like a lil bit... n then put it in a drawer n let nature take it's course... give it about 2-3 weeks n then cover it with estapol(dunno how to spell that properly) n glaze it n then have the lid or the top part open so that u can see whats inside but since its all glued together its doesnt move....kinda like a sick joke for still life art pieces...
so any hoo now im gunna get massive pieces of glass cut it out make glass cubes out of the pieces n then put the boxes in the cubes n have the cubes suspended from teh ceiling so that u gotta walk underneath the piece to view it... and what u see is rotting chocolate with green fuzzy stuff growing on it in a glas cube above ur head.....
n thers gunna be like 4-5 boxes....
i'll have the pics up soon cuz im still waiting for a few other boxes to start rotting so that i can seal em....


why im doing this people may ask......... cuz i got shit loads of time on my hands!!! iznt my life grand!!!
