u dont want to put 17's on a corolla! That car is slow enough as it is! I would go 16" maximum. I dont know how anyone could expect any performance out of a car that taller than it is wide!
Oh in case you dont know what I'm talking about about, the bigger your wheels get the more unsprung weight your car has to handle which slows you down alot. More rotational inertia. Not good for handling or speed, especially a torqueless wonder like the corolla will suffer alot!

i know each lb of wheel weight is double in rotational mass, i realized the car is slow as shit before i even bought it, just want it to handel better cuz the skinny tires it came with make it sway a lot in the wind. hoping larger better rims and tires and a descent drop to help with the snow will help. other than that, the car has a few toys but all show cuz it aint got no go.

You can get a wider wheel without having to get a larger wheel 8) Also, lowering your car will not help in the snow. It'll make it worse. Wider tires will also make snow handling worse. Its the "ski" principle.

i realize that but if you ever see a stock 9th gen corolla you'll know why i want a larger wheel, the car is too fat for 15" wheels. look at the site and check out my car and then zero's car in the other rides section , huge drifference just rims make.
as far as snow handling goes, i know drop wont help with snow so i'm going to do eibach, only 1.1" lowered so not too bad but the ski principle i know, the skinnier the tire the better the hadnling in snow but we'll have to see, i gotta find a wheel i like first

Maybe somewhere int he middle and go with 16's. You may end up with too low of a profile for 17's to have good handling. Once you get into the 40 and 35 profile tires your handling starts to suffer. 40 is okay but only if you have a real wide tire like more than 225.
I beleive your current tire size is 195-65-15. So to maintain the overall diameter of this w/t combination you would want to go with any of the following sizes:
205-55-16
205-50-17
225-45-17
225-40-18
I wouldnt go more than 17" and try to get as lightweight wheel as possible. If you want any chances of getting by in the snow make sure you get an all season performance tire. Toyotas arent that great in the snow to begin with. Nissans seem to do the best among FWD cars.

well i plan on getting 215/45/17 tires cuz that way i get to keep the OEM wheel/tire diameter to prevent tire inaccuracies. for the wheel, the TRD wheel is i think 40 lbs with tire and the Tenzo Passion 5 is close to it. the tire i was thinkin of getting was the Continental ContiTrac Extreme Contact or something like that, rated really good on snow and wet traction and equally good on dry. Supposed to be the OEM tire on higher end cars with plus size rims. as for what i got, i have goodyear integrities and compared to the michelins on my old car, these things are garbage and after driving on them last winter i am seriously considering somthing better. thanx for the advice on the tire diameters but mine is 185 cuz i got a CE not the S or LE. i've gone through this several times on the 2003corolla.org board. appreciate the help though.

215-45-17 will be just slightly smaller than stock circumference. But thats good because you will shorten your gearing a little bit for better acceleration without throwing off the speedo too much. your speedo will read just slightly higher than actual, say +1 or 2mph at 60mph.

215 cuz keep in mind my stock is 185/65/15 not 195 that's why 25 comes in really close. i used the tiresize calculator i have on my site. some one off the 2003corolla.org board made it in VB. pretty accurate

i have 225/40/18...if you are gonna put 17's on your car then i would suggest you get the 40 series tires...i know that you aren't looking for that much performance since you are considering bigger rims...the 40 series tire is perfect for daily driving and gives the car a very clean look...did you want a wheel with a lip?...i can do some research for you...i have seen some beautiful new body style corollas around...JDM headlight conversion...so damn sexy

sup where do you live, what JDM conversion corolla's have you seen cuz i probably know those peeps. we were the ones who started 2003corolla.org and got it to where it is. i got lots of mods, check out my site. i need rimz bad cuz the 15's look tiny and i do want a lip on there, preferably chrome. i can try 225/40/17 but it doesnt really matter. my car sways a lot and the stock tires tend to slip when in corner hard so stiffer springs and wider low profile tires should cure that. but your suggestions are welcome and please do suggest some rims. i'm definitely looking.
PS. my preference is mesh wheels like the ones on the 350z in pardesi-bhai's G53 post.

I wouldnt go with 40's i'd stick with the 45's on a corolla. You're way more likely to bend a rim with a 40 vs. 45. Rims aint cheap.

i know i'm gonna go with 45 to keep the diameter accurate, 45 is going to get it to be off. so you guys have any suggestions

i dont think its that likely for you to bend your rims if you have 40 series tires...i drive like a maniac and i don't have any problems...i live in cali...i usually see a black corolla when i go to college...it has the JDM headlights, a drop, rims and a grille...that car looks amazing
is weight really an issue for you??...if so then let me know
can you also tell me what color you are looking for
here are 2 of my choices:
Exel M6http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/exel/m6.gif
Exel DL-46http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/exel/dl46.gif
The racing hart C2's are really nice wheels as well

i know who is the owner of that ride. that along with one that is a dark grey color. the first one is cool. i prefer gunmetal inside with the chrome lip cuz gunmetal goes with my car's color. on my old ride i had just regular 17" silver rims and ran then all year round on michelin rubber. never had any bending problems in the two years i owned that car. this one i'm thinkin of similar setup. weight is not a concern cuz i'm pretty sure the excel's will be the same if not a little less than the TRD wheel (28 lbs no tire) since they are made by Rota/Konig. checked with wheel max when i called to check the weight on the Rota SubZeros lookalike's weight. i like the look of the DL 46 kinda rim a lot. but if i do go with something similar which i plan on ding its gonna be the P-5 which is the replica for the Tenzo R Passion 5. what kinda car do you drive, got any pictures.

Its an automotive racing fact. The lower the tire profile the less ability to absorb impacts. The less ability to absorb impacts the handling will be negatively affected unless all you drive on is brand new smooth racetracks. For real world driving your handling will suffer. Bigger and lower is not always better, there are tradeoffs.

yea that is true...i was racing a brand spankin new bmw 7 series today...some stupid white TEENNNNNNNN...well there was some considerable traffic so who wins in the zig zaggin?...the civic :)...well yea so gettin to the point...i have the 40 series tires on right now and that thing was bouncing like crazy...last time i raced down that freeway was when i was on stock suspension...the ride is very different now...that's only on uneven roads though...when i am on a smooth road...the traction in unbelievable...i think that just depends on your tires and tread pattern though

lmao, sup
1.8 is the engine size. vvti is a process that utilizes a computer to control fule to air ratio providing for best throttle response along with fuel consumption. those emblems are not stock, all corolla models even though they look the same are slow except the XRS (to come in mid 04).
the emblems i have are from Taiwan, this exact car over there is called the Corolla ALTIS, and that exact setup of emblems is used so i got those, and my front grill from there cuz a frined went back. i still havent put on teh ALTIS emblem but i probalby wont cuz my car's not the altis. the 1.8 vvti is true though.
