Ok, here's the deal. I'm an Indian (born, not raised) guy, and my girlfriend is from Hong Kong (ditto).

We both met in our first year at university, now 2 years later we are still together (and loving every minute of it).

A little 'pre-opinion' before I really get started. Lately, everybody has noticed the rising trend in WM/AF relationships. Everyone has their own opinions on the issue. Mine being that it's cool, as long as they both really like each other, and it's not some sick fetish/status thing.

A few weeks ago, me and my girl were in the mall, holding hands (like usual). We've never really gotten any 'looks' from anybody before so that's never been a problem, until this one day. We were in a clothing store, and my girlfriend was playfully holding up different pieces to her body with a 'you like?' comment tossed in here and there, usual girlfriend/boyfriend stuff.

We're having a good time until my girlfriend notices another couple looking at us. She nudges me and says 'Dude, What are they looking at?'. I looked at the WM/AF couple, and thought nothing of it. 'Maybe they think we're just being immature' I said to my girlfriend. We both shrugged it off.

Then later, in the food court, we're sitting down grabbing a bite when the same couple walks past us STILL STARING. This kind of rubbed me the wrong way, so my girlfriend and I approached the couple. We asked them what the stares were all about, when the WM replies 'We've just never seen a couple like you before, it's weird.' His girlfriend replies 'Yeah, it's not right'. Ok, that comment REALLY pissed off my girlfriend, and I had to drag her out of there before she got violent. End of story.

That experience has kind of hit a nerve inside me. A WM can date an AF but we can't get any other combinations? Sure they are rare, but not impossible. But when one interracial couple has the audacity to find another interracial couple 'weird' it's just plain disgusting.

It should get stares that encourage people to stop being racist. I don't really date, but sometimes I go out with white women to shows or sports games, but I reall y don't get any stares...or at least I think I don't

i do in those situations. or if i am at their parents' house, i feel like their pops is staring me down sometimes..

yep. I go out with a white dude, and this one time, this white preppy chick was like staring me up and down!! :rolleyes: but it was all good because he pulled me closer lol =P
but the weird thing is that if we get stared at its mostly by desi people.. :rolleyes:
