sure they are the fastest, but when you say production car, it means a car that comes from factory like that. Not one that is hooked up by an aftermarket company.

Nope the scoop just helps keep the intercooler lower in temp. Doesnt add any power. A "Type R" sticker is good for 10-15hp :P As far as "settling" is concerned I dont feel I've settled for anything. I got every penny's worth with this car! I love it. Stock it keeps up with cars twice as expensive. And thats not just in a straight line.

Let's see a new Civic with 127 hp for more than $17K or a 227 hp AWD WRX for just over $20k. Tough decision!! :roll: Dont get me wrong the Civic is a great car just majorly overpriced! :shock: And if your budget wont let you get a $20k+ car theres always the 2.5RS that also has AWD and 165hp for the same price or less than a civic. I just dont see the value in Hondas. All it is is the name. Just my opinion!

Definitely and Subarus rank up with Toyota/Honda/Nissan according to JD powers, consumer reports, etc. in terms of quality. I dont know if you're implying that Subarus have poor driveability but ok if thats what you think. I dont know of a better car that you can get that has a good balance of driveability in ANY kind of weather.

And the $17k + price for the Honda Civic EX is RIGHT OFF HONDAS WEBSITE.

Sure u can get a base model for less and then you get the whopping 115hp engine lololol.

You can also spend alot more and get the Civic Si that has 160hp. Thats the most power you can get in a civic and thats still LESS than the LEAST POWERFUL ENGINE SUBARU offers.

Actually that scoop on your Impreza is very functional. The lower intake temp means denser air which *does* translate into more hp. This is why turbocharged cars feel snappier in colder weather and laggy in hot weather. A common trick in the import racing scene, is to spray the intercooler with water, nitrous etc. People gain an easy 30-50rwhp on the dyno with this trick.

BTW I like those imprazas a lot. I may have one in the near future to play with. :-)

I dont know how much YOU paid for your car I was going strictly by the MSRP on Honda's website. People also pay alot less than sticker for WRX's these days as well. It was a relative comparison, and BTW the Impreza 2.5RS gives you 80% of the performance of a WRX at about $4k-$5k less and no stock civic will ever keep up with it, expecially in the turns.

Also maybe you've overlooked the new Forester XT Turbo? 1/4 miles in 13.8 seconds STOCK. Last time I checked that was in Porsche Cayenne and ML55 territory for about $25k. I cant think of any other car company that makes such great cars yet is SO UNDERRRATED! Makes me mad!

"Fastest Car" is a very broad category. Fastest in a straight line? Fastest in the turns? Both? Fastest to stop? Fastest 0-60? 0-30? 0-100? 1/4 mile? Overall?

You cant really categorize ANY car as the FASTEST car since there will always be another car that will beat it in one of the above categories.

The Lingenfelter C5 won Car and Drivers Super Tuner challenge i think in 2001 or 2002 but yea it beat the Hennessy Venom Viper, Autothority Porshce 911 Turbo and several highly tuned cars in the str8 line and twisties so yes, it can handle. 8)
