the rest of my sermon: next time dont focus so much on appearances, look for something deeper. intellect takes you further than a pretty face ever will. use your brains, kids. looks arent everything. god gave you a brain to think with and a heart to feel with. we have morals for a reason. and racism can only last in the hearts of those that let it eat them. for the rest of us, we can learn how to overcome it. but dont let your voice go unheard. this world has to change. and its up to us as the new generation to take this world, and spin it around. make it a place free of prejudice, and free of hatred.

and most importantly, keep your head high. just because I am a girl doesnt mean I cant say whats on my mind. why is it that when a girl has an opinion, you automatically attack her looks?

Although I'm going to get lambasted for saying this, I'm with Ligi all the way with her original post.

I'm not only a third party observer to the original thread, but I am a person who has had exactly the same thoughts as Ligi posted as I, too, have witnessed the hatred within these forums. I have taken some of this hatred personally too, as much of it is geared towards whites, however I have chosen not to say much about it within these forums because I'm a 'newbie' and , as such, some ppl on here think that i should not have a voice. Further, I haven't spoken my mind for the simple fact that, being white, it would not be in my best interest to point out my observations of the hatred that resides in these 'desi' forums (i'm sure that i would have had shit flung in my face, as is likely going to happen now).

Ligi was simply trying to point out the ignorance that pervades these forums...so much so, that it's right under all of your noses , yet you're completely oblivious to the fact.

I joined this site and these forums b/c I thought I would learn a little bit of something about desis in general and b/c i thought i might be appreciated for doing so. I I have many desi friends (in fact MOST of my friends/ gf's are desi) and i've always held desis in high regard. I wanted to show that white ppl can get along with desis and i wanted to be proven that desis are open-minded enough to be accepting of those who are different. It's very sad that I've discovered that i'm largely incorrect - not only do desis (on here, anyway) shun outsiders, but they belittle, berate and argue with each other b/c of the different areas in india from where they hail. Not only that, but the inane comments, rudeness, immature attitudes (not to mention sheer illiteracy - how the f*ck do you guys pass HS???) and general nonsensical commentary have led me to believe that there are fucken idiots in EVERY race creed and colour, desis being no exception.

When are you all going to realize that the world is one people??? Can none of you grasp that concept??? It's sickeningly sad that most of you do not and cannot.

I, for one, believe that Ligi is one of the few people on here with any real brainpower whatsoever and i really don't believe that she would 'flame' anyone out of the blue.
