Dandiya/Garba/Raas/Gujurati Dance?

umm i aint guju or anything but supposedly there's this celebration navratri thingy ... i was wondering if i can get some input on how this thing works and stuff...i mean the dances and stuff...cause i wanna go but i dont wanna be standing around like a fool and have them uncles giving me a dirty look thinkin im there to pick up girls or something :roll:

I dont know the details of this event but I know for sure that she has been doing concerts and and all in this month! So check it out! Ummm I think u can find info on superentertainment site but im not sure! Just thought u all would want to know! Sounds like fun! :D

aight dude... i used to go to garbas alot and raas would always be near the end... basically u go in the direction everyone is goin... when u get to the person infront of u... u swing ur right dandia, then ur left dandia... hit BOTH OF UR dandias together, then use both or just ur right dandia... then when ur goin to the next person u have to hit ur dandias together again... get that... um... maybe this will help...

we had our Music Masala Dandia Rass in Houston last month. It was okay, until Sunil T tried to act like a big movie star. it used to be real fun. until houston got crowded. everyone just started making tiny ass lines, and before you knew it, you were bumping into each other. i'd like to check out rass in other cities. like chicago or something...never even been to chi-town. :roll:

dude sunil looked like sucha dumb ass!!! and how the hell did the girl with the UGLY HAT outfit win best costume? one of his girl cousins went up to him n complained n he gave her a free outfit that they were selling.

the dandiya this yr was not nearly as packed as last yr or the yr b4 and i missed that. i missed running into more ppl i knew, but i guess we all moved on with college n what not n so ppl didn't come back for the big masala one. i had a good time though n took tons of pics. oh and my dandiyas were purchased here in san antonio n were one of the prettiest :) all my friends tried to jack mine

oh and this yr no 1 hit me on the head hard :)

the dandiya didn't even last long though bc then they just went to the bhangra n i left it at like 1:30am when last yr i left at like 3am n the yr b4 even later....oh well

y aren't music masala doing more parties? i heard they wanna do austin parties now n make more money off of us college younger desis

I ain't guju but i know alot bout garbas and dandia raas through my fav cuz Mithun who has an Indian band in Chitown. Garbas r alot of fun and a gr8 way to meet other Indians. My cuz Kranthi jus got married to a guju chick named Zarna over the summer and they had a garba 2 days before the wedding. It was really fun. U don't have to be guju to know how to do garba or dandia raas. I've been doin' it for years ever since i was a kid in Greenville, South Carolina. When my FOB cousins came and stayed w/ us there they took me and my sis to Garbas and other Indian things. I am so damn proud of being an Indian and an American. I was born in Greenville, South Carolina. :)
