Over View:

Project Super Seven, which is formally known as FC-1 is designed to further meet Pakistan Air Forces tactical and strategic needs with the least reliance on imports from other countries. In addition to that to design a plane that meets its on requirements with lots of room for upgrades and with export options. Super Seven is considered to be Medium-tech or possibly low-high-tech class.

History:

The project was initiated in February 1992, by China Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) who officially invited the PAF to invest in the Super-7 program. In return for full participation in design and development phase, with exclusive co-production rights. After careful consideration Pakistan Air Force (PAF) decided to go ahead with is project and got the Government approval in October 1994.

Joint Venture:

This project is a joint venture between Pakistan Air Force and China Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation along with Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC). Research and Development cost of this project is between 450 to 500 million US dollars This multi-million dollar project is financed up to 50%-59% by government of Pakistan. Estimated cost per air craft will be around 15-20 million US dollars which makes it excellent option for export market.

Technical Details:

Super Seven is a light weight, multi-role day-night, all weather fighter with max TO weight 12,700kg, max speed 1.6M, ceiling 16,500m, max weapon load 3,900kg, range 3,000km. It uses Russian RD-93 turbofan engine, which is an upgrade of RD-33, this RD-93 turbofan engine is also used in Russian MiG-29 it is claimed to 80-85% as capable as American F-16 and highly aerial maneuverability as its key features. RD-93 engine used in FC-1 is build in China with Russian license. The aircraft can also be fitted with an in-flight refueling probe and a deck arrester hook. This will increase its striking range beyond 3,000km.

Avionics:

FC-1 will be fitted with Italian Grifo S-7 fire-control radar. The Grifo S-7 radar system is specially designed for the FC-1 it has 25 working modes and a non-break-down time of 200 hours. Grifo S-7 radar system is capable of look-down, shoot-down, as well as for ground strike abilities. Pakistani sources also suggest that Pakistan is mostly looking into western avionics to further improve FC-1's capabilities. In addition to that it includes new digital dual fly-by-wire (FBW) system and a true Beyond Visual Range (BVR) attack capability.

FC-1 include a 25° field of view HUD, two multi-functional displays and INS/GPS (Global Positioning System).

Weapon Systems:

Super Seven is designed to be fitted with vast array of weaponry. It has a total of seven store stations, one under the fuselage and six under the wing with a maximum weapon load of 3,800kg.

FC-1s primary air to air weapon is a medium range SD-10 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile. Other weapons it can carry are short and medium range AAMs (Anti-Air Missiles) like AIM-9P/PL-9/Magic 2 and PL-11/Aspide/AIM-7E etc. In addition to that it can carry wide array of high and low drag bombs, laser guided bombs, runway penetration bombs and cluster bombs for air strikes.

Status Update:

FC-1/JF-17 prototype (serial number "01") conducted its first official test flight on September 3rd, 2003. The plane took off from Wenjiang Airport in Chengdu and stayed in air for about eight minutes. This prototype rolled out from the assembly line on 31 May 2003. On 1 July the it completed its first taxi run test at the test airfield in CAC.

Pakistan Air Force is going to receive ten of these in coming months to complete its own testing. Prototype "02" and "03" are in there final stages and PAF is expected to receive them soon. FC-1/JF-17 is to go under serial production by January 2006.

Pakistan Air Force has announced that it will include 150 of these planes at the same time China announcing that it will induct 200 of these planes into its Air Force. Once the work is completed on this deadly plane, it will create a new dimension in air combat standards. It will not only allow Pakistan to build this plane with its own recourses within the country but at the same time opening a huge export market

It is the most sophisticated light fighter for the 21st-century combat environment. Pakistan has ordered 150 each ranging from about 15 to 20 million dollars. It competes with India's LCAs (Light Combat Aircraft). LCAs had replaced the ageing MiG series of fighters with the IAF. 8)

Salaam bro oh ya Pakistan/china cooperation has produced the Jf-17 (3 rd generation fighter) and the FC-1 (the 4rth generation), its good because Pakistan Air Force needed a good, stable yet inexpensive platform to replace the aging fleet of F6s, A5s and F7s prehaps even the non ROSE upgraded Mirages as well. so that’s why we're going for this plane :?

Pakistan will mostly be producing/installing the glass cockpit and hands on throttle and stick (HOTAS) controls. With its modern radar guided BVRAAM missiles it will be able to shoot down two targets simultaneously. When the enemy closes to visual ranges it will be vulnerable to the latest heat-seeking missiles, which cannot be deceived by by flares or other techniques.

Next to the JF-17 FC-1, undoubtedly the PAF should go for the Mirage 2000-9, it will 2 times more
advanced then the IAF's Mirage 2000s. I guess the Mirage 2000-9s cost is 75mn dollars, its capability is almost equal as the SU-30MKI. For 2.3bn dollars the PAF can buy 30 Mirage 2000-9s in 2004, and pay the money off by 2008. In 2010 the PAF can order an additional 30 more for 2.3bn dollars.

Pakistan has only two types of F-16s, which are both block 15. F-16A and F-16B. Pakistan wanted to buy C and D and even had purchased it from the U.S in the eighties, but the U.S. was bullshiting. Pakistan has several others planes remember such as: F-7MP, FT-7MP, F-7 PG, Mirage III O, Mirage III OD, Mirage III E 40, Mirage III EP, Mirage III DP, Mirage 5, Mirage 5B, A-5C, K-8 Karakorum, FT-6, and FT-5. Also there are anti aircraft machinery on the ground and surface to air missiles for Indians. Pakistan already has two planes on record, which Pakistan has blown up from anti aircraft fire that I know of.

P.S. Pakistan sent tents and medicine through a C - 130 to India. This happened when that huge earthquake happened. Where is Indias' neighborly love?

Hey you guys remember a little while back, India shot down a couple of Pakistani planes because they were in Indian territory? I'm not too sure of the details so if I do make a mistake in this story, please correct me. Pakistan made a big deal about it saying the pilots were on a training mission. A TRAINING MISSION?!?!? On enemy territory? Come on! Who trains pilots on enemy territory? India had every right to take down those planes.

Setting: This mission took place in Sindh (south of Pakistan).

Karachi radar detected two Indian fighters on its screen. India (bullshiting motherfucking pussy ass) said the wreckage was 4km in India's borders. Pakistan said it was in their territory. The plane was found quickly and it was found 2km (1 mile) inside Pakistani territory. This proves that Pakistan was well in it's own territory. There was an agreement made between both countries in 1991 with respect in giving mutual space. It's a good practice. In this agreement, both agreed if ever planes would enter each other space, they woud first giving warning and then fire warning shots and then ordered to land. That never happened because the plane was in its own territory. Those two planes I had posted about had just happened recently. India started its propaganda from the start, a well organized cold-blooded plan. India sent those same two helicopters to the crash site to collect debris right away so they could grab credibility for their propaganda. The next day, Indian fighters tried to come to the area but were bombarded with SAM missiles which made the fighters run away. India cried they were spying on us! There stupid bitchass said it was on a "spying mission." It was on a damn routine training mission. There were five crew members and the remaining were eleven trainees. It had no mission other than what the trainees were required to undergo. With so many people, it is stupid to believe that it was a spying mission. Still all Pakistan wants is a apology. Engine dispute threatens Chinese fighter sales

Pakistan's planned acquisition of the JF-17 Thunder (previously known as the FC-1/Super-7) lightweight fighter is in doubt, following the revelation by Russian sources that China holds no right to re-export the Russian-made Klimov RD-93 turbofan engine used to power the prototype aircraft.

"China has no agreement with Russia on re-export [of the engine]," a senior Russian source told Jane's Defence Weekly, suggesting that the aircraft may need to be re-engined for anticipated sales outside China.

In addition to interest from the Pakistan Air Force, which reportedly has a requirement for about 150 JF-17s, published reports indicate that the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group has broad ambitions for further international sales to potential customers including Bangladesh, Egypt and Nigeria. The Chinese organisation has been developing the JF-17 since the Super-7 programme was cancelled in 1991, following US sanctions against the country. Beijing and Islamabad concluded a joint development and production agreement for the aircraft in June 1999.

China's People's Liberation Army Air Force has a requirement for "several hundred" of the aircraft, but it is thought that a firm contract has yet to be placed for the design. The prototype JF-17 conducted its first test flight on 25 August, and formal flight tests were launched in Chengdu on 2 September (JDW 10 September). Pakistan Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat attended the latter event.

Pakistan had been expected to receive its first 12 JF-17s for test and evaluation purposes during 2004, but this schedule appears likely to suffer a delay if the aircraft is required to undergo a re-engining programme

Pakistan is going to receive ten planes in the coming month to complete its testing. Both the second and third prototype are expected by the PAF to receive soon. China will receive 200 and Pakistan will receive 150 for now. .... the plane will go under serial production 2006. Not only will this allow Pakistan to construct this plane with its resources, but also they will open a new exporting market.

Super Seven is a light weight, multi-role day-night, all weather fighter with max TO weight 12,700kg, max speed 1.6M, ceiling 16,500m, max weapon load 3,900kg, range 3,000km. It uses Russian RD-93 turbofan engine, which is an upgrade of RD-33, this RD-93 turbofan engine is also used in Russian MiG-29 it is claimed to 80-85% as capable as American F-16 and highly aerial maneuverability as its key features. RD-93 engine used in FC-1 is build in China with Russian license. The aircraft can also be fitted with an in-flight refueling probe and a deck arrester hook. This will increase its striking range beyond 3,000km.

Avionics:

FC-1 will be fitted with Italian Grifo S-7 fire-control radar. The Grifo S-7 radar system is specially designed for the FC-1 it has 25 working modes and a non-break-down time of 200 hours. Grifo S-7 radar system is capable of look-down, shoot-down, as well as for ground strike abilities. Pakistani sources also suggest that Pakistan is mostly looking into western avionics to further improve FC-1's capabilities. In addition to that it includes new digital dual fly-by-wire (FBW) system and a true Beyond Visual Range (BVR) attack capability.

FC-1 include a 25° field of view HUD, two multi-functional displays and INS/GPS (Global Positioning System).

Weapon Systems:

Super Seven is designed to be fitted with vast array of weaponry. It has a total of seven store stations, one under the fuselage and six under the wing with a maximum weapon load of 3,800kg.

FC-1s primary air to air weapon is a medium range SD-10 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile. Your post is full of misinformation. First of all the US wasn't using F-16s or F-18s in any of the wargames.

Instead they put aging F-15s up against newer Sukhoi 30s and Mig29s. Even so, in India the American squadron didn't lose the excercise and alot of the 'kills' were attributed to the Russian A-11 Archer missle, considered one of the best heatseeking A-A missle to exist.

Pakistan can and will be in the offensive in Kashmir. It'll be mountain infantry warfare....where they can locally overwhelm indians by numbers by mobilising large number of regulars. But kashmir will be old fashioned kargil type trench war.

Real armored maneuver warfare will be in the plains of punjab and close to Rahim-Yaar Khan corridor in sindh-punjab border...and in sindh rajastan border...and in runn of kutch. In the past India had three strike corps..and pakistan had two..which they maneuvered against each other. Now the strategy has changed. India has adopted something called cold start...which aims to kill pakistani armor within its border with sudden attack...while pakistanis have adopted a "draw em in and then strangle with a pincer move on the flank" approach.
