Ella Gabriella, daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, plan to marry her Indian boyfriend Aatish Taseer, son of Pakistani businessman Salman Taseer and Indian journalist Tavleen Singh.
Ella, 23, the 30th in line to the throne, was studying Spanish and English literature at Brown University, Rhode Island, in America when she met 24-year-old Aatish, a Mumbai-born Sikh, who occasionally dresses up as Captain Condom to promote the importance of safe sex.
The couple is likely to live in India.
"I will be heading back to India to pursue my career," says Aatish who is working as a trainee reporter for Time magazine.
"The opportunities in media out there are excellent and I'm determined to give it a go. I've lived here in London and in New York, but Delhi is where I am from and where I want to be," he told the newspaper.
According to the latest report, the 23-year-old Ella has flown to Delhi to meet Tavleen Singh. Earlier her parents too had reportedly gone to meet Ms Singh. Princess Michael returned happy and is said to be extremely fond of her daughter's boyfriend. Ella, friends say, is simply besotted with Aatish. The two had met when Ella was a student at Brown University in Rhode Island. Aatish was studying at the nearby Amherst College.
According to friends quoted by the columnist Richard Kay, Aatish and Ella have planned to fly to Pakistan too, where Taseer's father lives. Presumably they would seek his blessings too.
