Since I am bored out of my mind, and RD is slow today, and fitness threads are always interesting, here is my old routine (dont have a new one yet):

Day1:
deadlifts
barbell rows
dumbell rows
pull ups
bar curls
pulldowns/extensions
shrugs

Day2:
flat barbell bench
incline barbell bench
seated military press
dumbell press (flat or incline)

Day3:
Squats to parallell
Squats below parallel with different stance
calf raises seated
calf raises with squat bar
Running.
abwork

Wierd people at the gym:
guys that box in the mirror and at each other inbetween sets. None of them even know how to box (its evident), yet it do it anyways.

Then we have the type who look at themselves in the mirror for 5 minutes, every 5 minutes.

When I was in India at the gym, this one mofo kept trying to give me advice when I clearly knew more than he did. It was quite annoying.

biceps get worked on my pull day through rows, bar curls, and pull ups.

triceps get worked in my bench day.

do compound movements work? i actually want different kinds of routines which i can switch every 2 months. u know 4-5 different kinds of routines or do u have any site links?

well any excercise movement will usually "work", its just a matter of efficiency and isolation. They work great for me. but some muscles, such as the traps, can only be worked effectivly through isolated movements such as shrugs.

There are different ways to categorize work-out routines.

One being through the motion of the excercise (push, pull, legs)

Another through general muscle groups (arms, legs, core (torso))

Another through specific muscle groups (biceps, triceps, lower back, pecs).

And then there is workout length and intensity, which include rep range and the amount of weight.

You can also have an entire routine span over 1 week to 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks. Some guys I know workout one or two muscle groups a week, and alternate everyweek.

If you want workout routines, just go to any popular lifting site such as bodybuilding.com (even though I dont like that site). One of my favorites is sherdog.net (the "strength and power" forum).

I'm getting serious about fight training and I'm trying to do more body weight work to increase muscular endurance and such. Thinking about shelling out the $$ for Furey's book. I know he is a joke but people say that Combat Conditioning is decent.

BTW I just got Bas's workout cds and they are awesome! You should definately look into them if you haven't already. Bas is the shit.

No fight yet. Am planning to fight sometime in the spring though. That's when the tournaments are. I started Shidokan, an offshoot of Kyokushin and they include submission grappling, MT, and some other stuff, so it's basically MMA.

That guy SHidokanartist from Sherdog is in it, eventhough hes a real ass sometimes.

Probably shidokan rules. They show it sometimes in ESPN

3 rounds
1st is full contact karate
2nd is MT
3rd is grappling

but I will try to get in some amateur mt fights. It's pretty rare around Chicago though.

But when I go to Thailand in a year or two I will for sure do a few. I want to visit some of their camps.

there is the weirdest desi guy at my gym. every time he benches, he lets out this monstrous noise and i swear the whole gym turns to look at him. then he gets up after about two and stares at himself in the mirrors.

haah!

There are always those dudes who love to draw attention to themselves! I can understand the noise thing if one is lifting heavy, but the whole "I gotta check out myself" bit is dumb.

College gyms are the worst, which is one I go to. The mirror gets alot of attention.

I make some noises when doing heavy sets or when trying to grind out those last few reps.

and I do look in the mirror - while I'm lifting to make sure my form is good and the bar is staying even, and between sets to make everyone around me feel bad. :P

yeah I use the mirror to check form as well, especially with deadlifts.

haha.

reminds me. i have to return to the gym soon. as for making noises, i make some during the last few reps on the last set. usually "hmph"'s. i try not to expend too much energy bellowing out loud.
