i hate imports...i'm into american cars with big V8's and lots of muscle.....favorite cars include mustangs and the saleen s7!!!

american cars are repulsive. i hate them sooooo much. i luv german cars. i hav a jetta and it has power. i like japanese too but german makes it to the top of my list. the only cars my family every owned are german and like 2 japanese. id say german is better.

german isnt bad....but i'd only go for it if i wanted luxury.....i just luv the sound of a V8 on domestic cars

many luxury foreign cars come with v12 i have even heard of a decent american luxury and besides american barely has resale value

just look at the lincoln line up....american muscle with luxury....besides....in terms of power, you cant find a german car with 400 horses and 400 lb-ft torque for $50 000.......a beemer with that will run u well over 100 000......american cars have bang for buck

Sport cars... my fav car is probably toyota celica... it lookz sooo sweet even though it doesnt have dat good of an engine... i still love it
sKyLiNe
October 25th, 2003, 12:41 AM
well jus cuz a car has plenty torque doesnt necesarily make it better. the fastest stock cars in the world are Euro. German cars are definitely my #1 as well. My dad owns a Porsche Boxster. It only has 220 horse and 195 torque but it has a light body. It's low to the ground and very wide for improved handling. The engine is located in the middle to balance the weight of the car and it allows it to shoot off the line easily....PLUS it's RWD. Most German cars don't have more than 250hp/torque but they have enuff technology to compete with other cars that have twice as much power.
I like some old American muscle cars but I mean they have all that power ONLY becuz they have extremely heavy bodies. Ratio-wise....most German cars would rape American cars when speakin bout performance. Handling, speed, everything all together makes them great.
Of course, it's only my opinions...after German cars, I'd definitely say Japanese are my next favorite.
sKyLiNe
October 25th, 2003, 12:45 AM
btw...i ran the porsche boxster @ the track, no mods...i ran a 13.9. that's German fer ya buddy....but i agree wit u on the price part.

japanese cars all the way...why not take pride in building your motor...these days the japanese imports are taking over the scene with crazy 1/4 mile times...its funny how a 1.8 liter engine can outrun a 4.3 liter or even a 5.0
sKyLiNe
October 25th, 2003, 03:07 AM
amen
...im not all out for raw power like muscle cars, they're too heavy. i like quick and agile cars
sameer
October 25th, 2003, 03:44 AM
why go for a sports car over a luxury car of the same price?
sKyLiNe
October 25th, 2003, 03:51 AM
depends...i dont really classify cars as sports or luxury cars. luxury cars these days are faster than alot of sports cars so i can care less. w/e's within my price range, i'll get

"its funny how a 1.8 liter engine can outrun a 4.3 liter or even a 5.0"
its funny how those 1.8 litre cars are heavily modified just to get crazy 1/4 mile times while the 5.0 litre mustangs can get crazy 1/4 mile times being stock.......just something to think about.......
sKyLiNe
October 26th, 2003, 02:05 PM
the Mazda RX-8 has a 1.8L engine and can easily spank a 5.0 stang any day stock, no mods.
no_boundaries
October 26th, 2003, 02:12 PM
actually, the mustang SVT does the 1/4 mile in 12.9 while the rx-8 does it in 14.5.......the rx-8 can only beat the mustang in handling.....and they are both made by ford :D .......my favorite car maker
sKyLiNe
October 26th, 2003, 02:36 PM
wow. yea you proved me wrong big time with that. i thought the RX8 ran quicker than a 14.5. I jus checked the stats on a website. I'm not impressed as much anymore. And I guess it can't take a Stang GT either.
I'd say the quickest street legal USDM import cars out there are the Mitsubishi LanEvo8 & the Subaru Impreza STi, which run 12.8-13.3 1/4 mile times stock.
However, there are plenty JDM cars that are faster than an SVT Cobra, which might not count in our case. But some Skylines stock (forget which models) push 450-500hp stock, I'll get the exact data l8r. That's simply scary for an import...er...Japanese domestic

October 26th, 2003, 02:55 PM
lol.......i like the skyline but i hate how it cost $90 000 american.....u can get a corvette Z06 for less than that which can kill the mustang and skyline

yea...that's why it's just a dream car  ... stupid american road laws, grrr
xtcshri2222
October 26th, 2003, 05:55 PM
a Z06 will not kill a skyline, skylines are made to be tampered with it comes from the factory with a built proof motor an TT setup only pushing 6psi, stock turbo can push HP to 400 level an kill pretty much anything.

"its funny how those 1.8 litre cars are heavily modified just to get crazy 1/4 mile times while the 5.0 litre mustangs can get crazy 1/4 mile times being stock.......just something to think about......."
but i bet you that the 1.8 litre cars can run the 1/4th mile and make it back to the parking lot while the 5.0 is out at a gas station being refueled
about the SVT...my friend had an 01 SVT...320HP...i'll give ford the props for that roadripping engine...you can't depend on those things though...my friend sold it 8 months later because he was having so many problems...he drives an IMPORT now
last thing...the domestics are trying to use import technology now...they seriously can't keep up with the imports anymore...perfect example is the Dodge "NEON" SRT-4...1.8L turbo...can't do it the all-motor way anymore????
no_boundaries
October 26th, 2003, 08:11 PM
its only getting better with ford.....the new 05 Mustangs are gonne have over 300 hp just on the GT model.......and ford combines the engineering of volvo, jaguar, mazda, aston martin, lincoln into its cars....also......ford isnt joking around anymore with their cars.....look at the 2005 ford GT.....the ferrari slayer
xplicitdreamz
October 26th, 2003, 08:55 PM
i think they are a joke...but thats just my opinion...the GT40 is probably the only ford that deserves any respect
sKyLiNe
October 26th, 2003, 09:49 PM
btw...when i said "that's why it's a dream car"...i was talkin bout the Skyline. I'd rather pay $90k for a Skyline than more money for a Z06. Domestic cars may have high numbers when it comes to power....but what's the use of power when it's not doin much good? I mean sure, you can definitely go fast and brag about your power, but what about all the other important things such as handling and reliability (as someone else before me stated)?
And that was a good point about the Neon SRT-4. It's a domestic car made to copy an import design. Nuff sed...

american cars barely hav any resale value...why would u want to buy a cheap american thas gonna giv u problems and sell for a lot cheaper when u could buy a import for a little or lot more but still get a good resale value
in my family we only drive vw's and my bro has a 240 and my bhabi has a 2003 accord which i thought was really ugly but it is nice...she had a v6 01 accord coupe but traded in for the 03 4dr...i'd rather get the 03 coupe
2 kids in my school hav the 03 coupe and their sweet...if i get into a good school my dad sed he'll get me the 6spd jetta which is sweet as hell...man jettas are the nicest 4 doors i've seen they are sooooo sexy lol

no_boundaries
October 27th, 2003, 06:29 PM
well....when i look at cars.....i dont care much for the resale value or fuel economy....i look at the raw power under ur foot and the shaking of the engine u feel and hear when u accelerate....i'm into cars passionatly in that form......and if you can afford a V8, you can definatly afford the gas and you shouldnt care about resale value.....just my opinion.......

umm...LEXUS GS430...300HP V8...0-60 in 5.8 seconds...my cousin has one...his friend has a GS300 with a 93-97 supra engine swap and a single turbo conversion...makes over 500RWHP...try em...even if they are 4dr bulky cars, they can whoop a SVT anyday...and yes i've researched the SVT and i found out that it doesn't take mods that easily...the suspension has to be fully rebuilt for it to handle excessive amounts of torque...any matchup for the R34 yet???...it rules the strip and the track...oh yea by the way stock hondas can outperform many of the high performance V8z around the track
Racing isn't just going fast in a straight line...true racing involves turns which tests the skills of the driver and the potential of the machine :D

A ford will prolly last u 80,000

american cars don't give any mileage thats tru my mom has a ford van i hate it it doesn't even hav a 100k and the trans is falling apart
my dad bought a brand new jetta in 88 and he drove it 150 miles everyday to and from work...car went more than 500,000 on the same engine too. but my bro sold it for 1000 bucks like 7 yrs ago so he could buy something for his car...the kid who bought totaled it the same day...my dad was pissed when he woke up the next morning and discovered his car missing..lol those were the days...
then my bro bought a golf he couldn't pay for so my dad took it from him and the car has approx 350,000 miles it's a 96 the meter says 160,000 its sitting on my driveway like deco...i'll sell it for a $1000 lol j/k
now my dad has a hyundai that he bought from my bro he hates the car i'll sell it to u for $5000 ne offers????

I was reading an auto mag and they were having a race between a viper, audi s4, m3 and carrera. For the first part of the race it was a in a str8 line and everything was ok, then a turn came and each car took that turn at 120 MPH. LOL!! who won in the end? i bet the carrera took em all. im a diehard porsche fan, especially since my dad's on his 3rd porsche now. we started it all off with an '89 928S, then a '91 Carrera 4 and now we're on the '02 Boxster. Porsches are superb in handling, if not speed. The Boxster, even tho the most bottomend porsche model available, still outdoes some Ferraris in handling. Carreras on the other hand are simply monstrous. Don't get me started on the GT2 models or the top end Carrera 5s n wutnot.
And also, I dont think there's any domestic car out there better than a Skyline, all models of the Lancer Evolutions, or WRX'es...WHICH btw Sameer, have the Porsche Boxster engine. The boxster engine has a 2.7L 6 cylinder inline F-6 engine which Subaru put into its Impreza WRX model but changed it to a 4 cylinder turbocharged F-4...which puts out a little more power but still a lil slower than the Boxster S. Thing is...u get a 4door car, same power output, AWD, and a turbo engine for HALF the damn price of the Porsche Boxster. That's Jap "Rice" for all u haters out there :) Btw I'm not puttin down POrsche cuz it still has higher class and handling than a WRX..but HALF THE PRICE!! I would take american muscle over italian any day. Those italian cars are way overpriced for the amount of performance you get.
But I do appreciate performance cars from all parts of the world. They all have their pros and cons, so why cant we just get along? :)
I think theres only one car that gets on my damn nerves! The Honda Civic. What an overpriced, underpowered POS! The "top-of-the-line" EX model has like 125 hp? Costs the same or more than a 165hp Impreza 2.5RS and you dont even get all-wheel-drive.
Any retorts regarding Honda vs. Subaru quality turn on the news and find out about the multimillion car recall Honda is having right now.

Kinda sad but i used to respect the subaru wrx (non-sti version)...now its just sad how they get jacked by the lil Neon SRT4z...AWD gives bigger horsepower loss to the wheels...something like 15% on the wrx...plain out sucks...with a sticker price of 27K i think its a bit overpriced too...i'd rather add 2-3K more and get the EVO VII 270HP
oh by the way...the civicz are ULEV (ultra low emission vehicles) and they hold a sticker price of 14K which is perfect for the average consumer...even after adding some of the aftermarket products we stay under emmisions levels...so i'd do a lil bit of researching before saying things

ugh, what am i hearing?
Civic is underpowered? to whom? you? do you know the demographics on the basis of which they sell the civic.. those cars are economy cars, they are not meant to be raced!! they give you more MPG then that legacy to which you compared it.. wtf.. 21/22 for the legacy vs. 31/32 for the civic. If you want more power, get the Civic SI and it will whoop 2.5RSs ass. What multimillion recall are you talking about?
About the exotics.. Besides the GT, find me one domestic car that will go against Italian engineering.. there is none, absolutely none. How can you say they are overpriced for the performance you get? Find me a car that will give you the same amount of performance as a Lamborghini Gallardo within it's price range?

oh and p.s. the boxster engine is not a boxer engine.
ok thanks. :x

the fact that you are comparing a 3.6-liter DOHC V-8 of the modena, to the 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 of the GT, makes me really wonder who is ignorant here? while the cost of the Modena is 150k, and the GT is north of 150k.

alright i will make things interesting.. let's say the GT beat the Modena, but team it up against the Gallardo (another italian bred car) and tell me how the GT holds up.

in the racing aspect i would take the GT anyday over the ferrari or the lambo...sorry to say but the modena doesn't live up to its expectations on the track...the lambo is horrible because of the AWD...now that its owned by audi all i expect it to do is go downhill.
hey no boundaries i actually agree with you on this one

that's your opinion, doesn't make it a fact. just like noboundaries loves his domestics, u love ur audi quattros. words of wisdom n advice: dont get on other ppl jus cuz they dont have the same opinions as u. MY opinion would be the ferrari modena simply b/c you can't compare Ferrari to Ford, i dont care what's owned by what...I'd still take the Benz van over a 300M anyday. Chrysler may own Merc-Benz but they're still in two different classes.
btw, it's called Porsche Boxster...not Boxer. My father owns one. What I said was that the WRX engine design was copied off the Porsche Boxster's design with slight variations, the biggest ones being that the WRX is a 2.0L intercooled turbocharged 4cylinder engine. :x

audi is not the AWD expert. Quattro is just a fancy name for basic all wheel drive.
The AWD experts are Subaru who made AWD standard on all cars starting in 1995. Subaru had it as an option for decades before that as well and almost nobody has a truly symmettrical drivetrain layout other than subaru.
Since the boxer engine is not transverse the power does not have to be routed around angles, it goes straight from the front to back. This reduces the the amount of weight difference between the right and left side of the car and reduces torque steer as well.
Overall it makes for a much better balanced, simpler, more efficient system with less parts to break.
BTW ALL subarus have horizontally opposed (boxer) engines, not just the WRX.
The only other manufacturer that uses a H design is Porsche.
