whats good homie
good luck with your finals hope u get ur 2.1
the post graduate qualification in teaching (PGCE) is the standard course for teachers in the uk.
One of my friends did a child studies degree and now shes doing the pgce at oxford brookes. it lasts like a year and then you get to do placements. without it she was struggling to get jobs. now that shes practicallyhalf way throughit she has got four job offers already and also interviews at other places, so basically everywhere she applied they took the pgce positive, plus oxford brookes course is rated fairly high. good luck withal that and inshallah u achieve ur dreams of becomin a teacher we need some good teachers in our local comps.

i wouldnt recommend teaching, those bastar£ kids scratch your carz up, be giving u nothing but stress all day. Its not worth the 17k a year,
Its a rubbish job.
Plus u will need:
- a 2.1 degree, " in a core suject
-You can take another course in a core Subject... Eg English, Maths, Science.. or what ever u wanta teach. to give u a grounding
-GCSE: maths, english and science GCSE grade C above
- You will also have to give up ur time, in a class room enviorment for free to get experience, my cousin use ot work weekend with special needs childern
- PGCE - your Post Graduate Certificate.
- You will have to be PEDIO cleared, --- "CBR" check :-|
- You will need to become "Qualified Teacher Status"
~All that, and they will start you on 17k then expect you to earn points which tranlate into extra money.
eg after-school classes EXtra 500 a year,
eg teach special needs to read Extra 3000 a year.
ect, ect.
plus the kid will drive u insane, treat u like sh1te,

are you sure you need all that?
i swear its different
if you dont have a degree in a core subject you can do a booster course alongside the course you want to teach..with the PGCE?
where did u get the figure of £17k?
i swear everywhere i have looked and even in job adverts the lowest even for a ks2 teacher is around £22K starting and thats in london. i know if you dont live in london you get 5k less LMAO!
im planning on doing the students associates scheme which is 2 weeks and gives class experience and i get paid aswell £40 p/w.
and u get also £9k TAX free during your PGCE as a bursary u dont have to pay back. so it works out well.
BUT correct me if im wrong.
im thinking of teaching ICT because i dont want to teach a CORE subject due to the fact that i want to teach something thats im interested in aswell not just teach ENGLISH.. although its harder and more fun!

How do you become a teacher?
To work as a teacher in state-maintained schools in England and Wales you need to have professional qualified teacher status (QTS).
To be awarded QTS by the General Teaching Council for England (GTC) you must:
* Complete a period of training, such as a one-year professional
* postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) course, which recommends you for QTS..
* Complete a period of induction, known as the newly qualified teacher (NQT) year. This is your first year of employment as a teacher in a school.
* Pass QTS skills tests in literacy, numeracy and information and communications technology (ICT) by the end of your period.
* secondary (11-16);

im guessing the school will pedio check you.. so all those underaged ratedesi girls could come back to bite you in the ass :rofl:
you will need to negotiate your starting salary with the head master, if its a good school and sharp head teacher, he will give you 17k, plus teachers get a good pension plan so you might want to look into that...
I think you have 3months to opp out of the pension plan, it might be better getting your money out.
Also I would recommend joining a the teachers union, that way the senior management and other teachers cant fuccc with you. ITs worth the 15 pounds a month.

Dont end up in a school on the edge of going into "Special measures"
basicly a rubbish run down school :ugh:
IF that happens, then the school as been placed on the shit-alert and its two steps away from being closed down. If Ofsted judge the school to be failing its pupils it will place the school under special measures. Then close the school.
If this happens while your working at that school, then your teaching career is OVER before it has even begun" no other school will ever accept you for a another job.
A good way to know if a school is doing well, would be to see what kind of facilities they have, eg IT rooms, Music Room, Sporting ect..ect..ect and what the GCSE results where like.

Look up on the university website. I don't think you necessarily need a degree in a core subject but i'm not 100%.
PGCE- you will have to do 2/3 placements each year-depending on how many years the pgce is that you choose to do.
Pay wise- 25k start inner london 20k outisde london.

i think you'll find that Ofsted cant actually sanction the closure of a school. If a school is deemed to be inadeqtate in a section 5 then they are given a notice to improve, they have 6 months in which they will have an unanounced inspections (usually in the 2nd term after inspection), if at this stage they are graded as inadequate again then they are put into special measures where ofsted will visit under section 8, 1st section 8 takes place about 6 months after being put into special measures. If there is no improvement then they carry out unanounced inspections every 3 months until the school reach an acceptable standard. Only if the school is really messed up will a reccomendation to the LEA and DCSF for the school to be closed. This is all dependant on the schools track record, whether or not it is viable for children from the catchment area to attend other local schools etc.
Ultimately the decision to close a school falls on Ed Balls and would only happen as a last resort.
Working for a challenging school in a tough urban area can work wonders for you if you are able to excel, check out www.future-leaders.org
