have any of you guys ever been stopped and searched by the police? how often does it happen? and where?

whether its under the terrorism act, drugs act etc etc.

i was stopped again this morning, i was standing outside the station smoking a fag... and the bastards stopped me under the terrorism act. they didnt search me as i told them i was working across the road and was running late.

since 7/7 i have been stopped no less than seven times under the terrorism act and its usually been inside or outside public transport stations.

i have been stopped three times by police in my car since january this year. apparently my car has a 'drugs tag' on it. the police have put a mark on my car as one of my friends had weed on him when we got stopped. they didnt arrest him they just took the weed. bastards.

blacked out as in tinted windows? Because where I live you're not able to have tints on your windows and if you do it raises suspicion

yes but by stoppin me so many times on public transport will achieve what exactly?

how many 'terrorists' have the found wondering the tube network? lol it doesnt make it any safer by doing what they are doing. it only makes the public feel safe. but its not actually doing anything.

yes tinted windows, privacy windows, whatever.

where do u live?

i know up north (birmingham, manchester etc etc) the police are very strict when it comes to the driver's window or front passenger windows. if they are blacked out the police will insist you remove it straight away, if you fail to do so, they will take your vehicle.

in london the the 'blacked out windows' are not such a huge problem. so the police dont bother with it too much.

my front windows are only slightly tinted, the police have never said anything to me about it but have been told my my cousin if i was to take it to birmingham the police would stop me and ask me to remove it.

I'm from Chicago and they outlawed the tints when a cop made a routine stop somebody had a gun ready so when they rolled down the window the guy killed the cop. Over here if they think you look suspicious they'll pull you over and make up an excuse about how you ran a stop sign or were going over the speed limit. They'll see how you act, if they feel like you're being too nervous, they'll ask to search the vehicle

London_man you are right. If ur car has dark tints and u r driving it around Birmingham the police will most likely stop u and have u remove the tints there n then. Failure to do so usually results in the car being clamped and taken away. But the current law on tinted windows doesn't just apply to people in Birmingham or Manchester. I dont know why they are not so strict about it in London? My friend used to drive a bmw 3series as well and he had blacked out windows on his car, he was stopped and had to remove the front windscreen, back and driver side tints. Also they done a search in his car because it looked suspicious. Luckily, he had no stash in his car that day so he got off the hook there.
I think u get away with having tints as long as the windscreen does not reduce visibility by more than 25%. I'm not sure about the side windows though. I think they can be more blacked out.

I've got tints and have never had this problem. Obviously I did my research very well and checked with DVLA etc to see whether my tints are at an acceptable shade. If it is completely blacked out most likely that it in illegal. There isn't any poitnt o spending so much money on illegal shade of tint to then have to remove it.

Oh also, you are not allowed to touch the windscreen with tints! Any company providing tints will tell you what you want to hear so always best to check with DVLA and see the legal side of it.

In the Uk as a whole you CANNOT have your front window tinted more than 15%
Side windows can be tinted more but only to a certain degree. but i guess if you getting your windows blacked out your just asking for trouble!

Nowadays in london police will only pull you over if your car appears to draw some type of attention or if an alert pops up on the incar display claiming that your not taxed, insured etc!

Been pulled over more times than i can count. They rarely search my car though. I had it searched by the u.s border patrol one time, but it was clean. Tint is just an excuse for them to pull you over, its all about police discretion. If they choose to fuck with you theres not much you can do. Sad really. Dont know about that whole terrorist thing, over here we just have a bunch of doucheclowns with badges who have a hard-on for pulling over anything that isnt factory stock.

the back passenger windows can be 100% black. the police cant do anything as it doesnt break any laws. the back window of the car can also be blacked out.

i believe in birmingham manchester leicester etc... they have more problems with boy racers (especially from the asian communities) and therefore have decided to clamp down on cars with tinted windows. i also think up north its easier to get away with crime that involves vehicles. which is probably another reason why they clamped down on it. in london there are vehicle recognising camera's everywhere!.

the front windscreen and front passenger window and the drivers window must all be clear.

Nope. Completely incorrect, like i said before best to check with DVLA before assuming, it cannot be completely blacked out due to driving safety reasons. Also the windscreen cannot be tinted at all due to visibility reasons. I got the passenger and driver window tinted slightly without any problems after checking it up and calling up DVLA, it doesn't have to be clear.

I don't think it is as dark as you wish there still has to be a slight visibility around the windows - hence the Police get people to remove their tints as they have the right to do so, if it's over the % limit.

So basically you can sue the Police for telling you to remove your tints if it is not against the law for them to remove dark as you want tints at the back (?)

Watched some traffic cop thing the dude pulled up had to take off his tints straight away without choice was completely blacked out.

what the fuck? u contradicting yourself or what?

basically, the back windows can be blacked out so that no one can see inside the car, can see NOTHING AT ALL when lookin FROM THE OUTSIDE.

but you must be able to see a certain amount of light when looking OUTSIDE from INSIDE THE CAR.

and someone said in a previous post that the police wont waste their time checking how much light (%) can be seen. the do actually test this road side. but as i said earlier its more of a problem for people up north (birmingham manchester bradford etc etc) then the people down here in london.
