Four men stabbed to death on day of bloodshed

Four men were stabbed to death within the space of 16 hours as London's knife crime epidemic escalated.

And a fifth man is fighting for his life in hospital today after he was stabbed last night.

The four killed in separate incidents yesterday included the 20th teenager to die violently in the capital this year. The deaths mean there have been seven knife murders in the city in the past six days.

At the start of the day of bloodshed, a 40-year-old man was found stabbed to death at the rear of a disused pub on Tottenham High Road just before 4am.

Later in the day, a 19-year-old man was knived in a fight at 2.30pm in Edmonton, north London. He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. A woman, 26, and a 36-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Three hours later, Adnan Patel was fatally stabbed on Downsell Road, Leyton, east London in an apparent road rage attack after a minor accident. The 20-year-old was knifed in the stomach following a dispute with some men in a white van.

In a desperate attempt to flee the attack, the wounded Mr Patel climbed back into his Ford Focus and sped off, but lost control due to his injuries and smashed into another car a few streets away. Residents tried to save his life as he lay whispering prayers.

And at 8.30pm, a man in his early twenties was stabbed to death at a block of flats in Walthamstow. Emergency services tried to save him at the scene but he died an hour later on the street.

A fifth man, in his early twenties, was today in hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed in Willesden last night.

Today witnesses described how Adnan Patel had stumbled from his crashed car, bleeding heavily and collapsed clutching his stomach.

David White, 18, and his friend, NHS worker Leaanne Mitchell, 26, tried to help him. Mr White said: “I just thought it was a car crash but then he got out and I could see him bleeding. He was very weak and on the floor. I ran over — there was a lot of blood. Leaanne came out with sheets and towels — anything to stop the bleeding.

“He had been stabbed in another street. His brother was in the car as well, but he was driving, trying to get to hospital. He was losing consciousness and then he was gone. I felt sick. I tried to save his life. I was not just going to stand there and let him die.”

Mr White said there had been an argument moments earlier involving the occupants of a Ford Transit van.

It is believed the attackers may have been armed with crowbars and hammers, one of which was found discarded in the road.

Scotland Yard said four people had been arrested in connection with the killing of Mr Patel.

The stabbings occurred in the week when the Met launched a 75-strong taskforce to stamp out London knife crime.

The police need to get finger out of their asses and get on the streets, because lack of police is fueling people taking up knives for their own protection. Labour govt needs to go we need a more tougher conservative right wing govt to kick the feminist lilly liberal assholes out of positions of power. Decline of family and family values is contributing to lack of respect and discipline in the streets.

the parents cant ALWAYS be held responsible.. i mean with some troubled kids we dont know how hard their parents try to help their child.. i mean parents can ground their kids, put them on lock etc.. but at the end of it.. the kids will find a way around it
I mean desis do it all the time (not the knifing thing) but like they sneak about to see their boyf/girlf behind their parents back etc.. no matter how hard the parents try.. kids will find a way.

you cant blame parents for everything a child does wrong. sometimes some kids are just so bad the parents cant stop them.

kids need to be held accountable for their actions. if they commit the crime of an adult they need to be tried like an adult. none of that pussy stuff, letting a kid off cuz he's a minor.

also too many parents try to be a kids friend rather than the parents. they try too hard to be the cool parent, letting their kid watch programs on TV, listen to certain kinds of music cuz everyone else lets their kids do it, and thats what spoils a kid. Parents need to learn its okay to beat a child!!! As long as you're not taking your anger and frustration out on the kid its okay to beat the hell out of them when they do something wrong. I wish they'd make parenting classes to toughen up parents a bit.

The first murder to happen this year on 1 Jan 2008 at 6.27am concerning Henry Bolombi the 18 year old who was stabbed 15 times by 4 teenagers in London was the start of the increased violence which has escalated through out this year.
i was working as a security supervisor in Edmonton green shopping center and was the first witness the horrific way in which henry Bolombi died.
i have the CCTV clip in which the whole incident was captured by me but its to horrific and disturbing for people to view.

It's just escalating! Day by day and noone is doing anything

- Sack Blair - the head of the Metropolitan Police, he is not fit for purpose and clearly has the hands of powerful people above him hence why he is in a hob! A How someone can be in power after Mendez case is BEYOND me! The man is a racist and this has been proved many a time over the years.

- Get in mandatory sentences full stop! If you have a knife you are inside for minimum 24 months without early release

- Anyone caught using a knife gets an automatic minimum 10 year penalty and on murder \ attempted murder minimum 25 years

Another issue that many ignore is what this nation produced during the late 80's and 90's. The council girls! The ones that had to havea baby to get a housing! This is part of the result of that period...chavs! common breds from the people that have no morals what so ever

One other thing that is REALLY pissing me off! I know its not something that should be said but feck it! The dudes of late [black ones more than anything based in what you see] that have died in stabbings they have been eposed as gang members of sympathisers?!? They have been picture on bebo andmyspace with guns, knives and all?! And then we are meant to feel sorry for them when they been knived to death? There parents looking for sympathy and justice? Look closer to home darling! If you dont know what your kids are upto its your fecking fault! Also, a number of the kids wich were stabbed went down crying for Mummy! What does this say? All fluff and no fanny! These youngsters give it large..along there like little boys! But we let them get away with it as they dont get taken to task alone! Ok theres a debate on why not to do that, and reaction and being attacked etc..but we are also to blame!

When I was some of these little shits age I wouldnt dare shout or swear at random people in the street! Id get my ass kicked from my parents and id be scared if I got in trouble! Now a days they dont give a fuck!

Today is another example, driving in east london and this white dude was in a right turn lane.....I was going straight..the stupid cum munching turb knobbler just turns without indicating to go straight so I had to end up swearving! So beeped the twat and he sticks a finger up?!?! I mean WHAT? Hello? You just nearly caused an accident!! you are in the wrong?!?!. But what the hell is that about?? I mean if that was me..id put my hand up and gesture an apology!

Most of the kids today that are abusive, have no self-respect or morals are usually like that because of bad parenting. Kids nowadays are allowed to do more unappropriate things at an earlier age & they are drawing more and more away from things that they should be engaged in ..ie sports, clubs, work, school and other activities.

Here lies the root of the problem. Nobody is willing to ask the question of can some of these people actually be helped as they currently are? Convetional wisdom would suggest not.

You build community centres, they burn them down. You start integration projects, nobody goes. You provide education, teachers get backchat and abuse in return. There is no silver bullet to cure all the ills of society and within each group there will always be exceptions, people fighting to defeat the norm and escape their afflictions.

But one thing is for sure, you can't educate a man with a gun, you can't give a man with a knife a community centre and expect him to leave the knife at home. You can't take away drugs unless there is a new way on the other side. Whilst there is on going violence its more than likely that nothing can be sorted out. If violence is the currency of exchange then violence has to be the currency of negotiation. Fear and pain are primevil instincts, you don't touch the fire because it hurts. Likewise if you carry a gun with the intention of using it and know the worst that can happen to you is 10-15 years in jail, the benefits may outweigh the risks. If it was life in jail with no chance of paroll or you knew there were armed officers out there who would actually shoot back it increases the pain factor and makes less people more likely to do it. You can't argue with the law of the jungle, it works and it works regardless of class, status, race or creed.

Before you can change peoples thinking you have to give them a need to change their ways. The Taleban now very rarely engage British forces in conventional battles, because they get their arses kicked every time they try. If you want to educate people who choose street crime as a way of life, you have to make street crime very unappealing. Talking will not do that as words, projects are all useless if the audience isn't compliant. You have to make the current way of life either painful, dangerous or unattractive. Softly softly policing and sentencing has been in force for over 20 years now, I think we all now know it doesn't work.

i think the supply of drugs need to be stop. especially weed. i love weed but many of these 'fights' start due to drugs. you always hear about someone gettin stabbed over 'drug debts'.

the youngers need to be educated. i dont think enough of them are getting the message about knife crime. there are some who will feel they have no choice but we need to stop kids from feeling like this. they think they need a knife or other weapons for protection. coming from a rough area myself i can understand why but its not the way it should be.

i dont think tougher laws over knife sales will make much difference. anyone can pick up a knife from any kitchen, weather its their house or someone elses.

realistically the supply of drugs will never be stopped!
if it did the worlds economy would simply crash, not only that but the goverments of many of the superpowers wouldnt let it stop, its a very large income.

in this country the way forward has got to be harsher punishments, firstly this country needs to spend some of its money wiser by either building many more prisons if its to keep its softly softly approach or introduce the death penalty as in the US.

people who have been to prisons in this country know that the system is a joke, its not like your going to do hard labour but more like your going to holiday camp! if going to prison involves have the luxuries of the outside, inside then i dont really see the point of it, if the prison system was how it was 15 years ago then nobody would wanna go jail!

people need to be taught that prison aint no joke but with todays prison system that cant be done!!!

yes... the government needs to bring in harsh penalties.

i have many friends who have been to prison... come back out... and within a few months have gone back in! lol

its obvious that prison is not the punishment it should be. if it was then why are so many criminals re offending again and again?

some have no choice (they think) due to things like heroin/crack addictions, and so are in n out all they time as the dont no any other way

the others are just people with no common sense and only know one way of living - make money n if u get caught minor coz a few moons in jail aint shit, come out n the cycle begins again!

so yeah i totally agree with harsher punishments given!!
