Pompeii was quite an exceptional city, full of political tensions, strange customs, a place where merchants vied for the best trade routes and rich Romans pursued all manner of pleasure. It was probably the biggest rival to Rome, I'd say it was for more entertaining being a citizen of Pompeii than Rome. And then tragedy strikes as an earthquake tears apart both Pompeii's buildings and the fabric of it's society, that's what got me interested and at that time I discovered those forum and there wasn't a better username to reflect my interest at the time.
