The Exorcist and The Omen are supposed to be two of the best horror movies ever - from what I've heard.

yeaah they are~ (and the suspense nowadays is so cheap, not very drawn-out.) but I know a lot of people who dont quite get them.. they're more into cheap thrills type.. Rosemary's Baby is like one of my fave movies but I showed it to a friend and he sat there making fun of it. *grr* there's so much social commentary in a lot of the older films too.. like Night of the Living Dead.. that wasn't just a zombie film.

freddie was scary when i was like 10... i used to always sleep with my face covered it was a habbit but when i saw that film i was like wtf you cant getaway from ghosts and monsters...the best tactics was to go under the duvet or the bed, but then wth do i do cos now watching freddie freaked me out so much i cudnt sleep full stop cos i thout that mofo wud slice me!

There this old movie called Bloodfeast

Apart from the usual suspects, I'd highly recommend most Japanese horror or "J-horror" flicks, particularly those directed by Takashi Miike like Ichi the Killer, Odishon (Audition in English) and Imprint, which is the thirteenth episode of the Masters of Horror series. Get the entire series if you're a horror buff. The Japanese REALLY know how to write a scary story :P
