Just dont hang around in didgy places late at night and you will be fine. Also dont try and get too friendly to everyone that hits on you. Just ignore, look straight and carry on walking. Thats it. Posession of these things you want to obtain is illegal. If it makes you feel better carry chilli powder with you. Or dissolve chilli powder with water and bottl it in one of those spray bottles. Or get a personal attack alarm. If all else fails then obtain a pepper spray from the local London Kebab House, as KA mentioned above.

Stay out of shitty areas at awkward times. With all due respect, when it comes to unfrtunate circumstances, you wouldnt have enough time to react in the way that your expecting to. If anything it will provoke the 'attacker' further and even if they didnt intend to take it far, they will.

Take it from me. If someone is standing with a gun in your face and they DO intend to use it, you will not be able to give them a dose of pepper spray - you make any sort of movement that looks like you're reaching for/raising a weapon and they'll pull the trigger quicksmart.

The best defence is avoidance. Avoid shitty areas and if a shooting/shootout is in progress just turn and walk away to the nearest point of safety then call the police and or ambulance for the victim. Don't set yourself up for getting shot by standing and watching the shooting, tempting as it is when you are scared shitless.

Moved when i was 10 months old b/c of my dad's job. I go to london A LOT. I know what areas to avoid and whats areas i feel safe in etc but id rather feel i have some protection in any event. Though nothing major has happened to be before (Thank God) you can never be to sure. The worst i got was being called a "fucking bomber" by a white guy after the 7/7 bombings.
