Ok so its not that bad like we were thinking it was..
and she might be goin to Hollywood

It doesn't get better than this. Bipasha Basu, who co-hosted the grand event at Lisbon last Saturday to reveal the new Seven Wonders of the World, is back in Mumbai.

While the Manchester United striker played court to her all evening, Oscar winners Sir Ben Kingsley and Hillary Swank too came under Bipasha's charms, and by the time she left for home - the Bollywood actress had a new set of swish international celeb friends. Bipasha tells the story: "I was proud to announce Taj in the new list of Seven Wonders of the World. Everyone there were such easy-going and warm people. We struck great friendships and I want to cherish this for a lifetime." Sir Ben compared her to Hollywood's original sex goddess, the Italian diva Sophia Loren. And agreeing with him was the former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, who also found an uncanny resemblance to Loren in Bipasha.

"Sir Ben was very helpful," says Bipasha. If tomorrow she makes it big in Hollywood, she'll know whom to thank. "Sir Ben guided me how to get there. I already have a few meetings lined up. Let's see, if some good role comes my way, I shall think about it. I will certainly not do any tidbit roles just to get into Hollywood," she firmly says. Hillary Swank, Bips found to be very unassuming, sweet and warm. "When my luggage didn't arrive, Hillary lent me an outfit for the evening. But when my bags came and Hillary saw my dress, she complimented me saying this outfit suited me better and that I looked really beautiful ," reveals Bipasha.

And then there was Ronaldo, God's gift to women, with whom Bipasha behaved like an awe-struck teenager. "Meeting him was a dream come true. I am a big fan of his. And I was totally floored by the way he kept showering me with praises all the time. It was very flattering. After the event, we went out clubbing, and that was simply fantastic," recalls Bips.

"Ronaldo said he loved Bollywood films. But I laughed, thinking he was just being sweet. However, he surprised me by taking out his cellphone and playing the song Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi from Masoom. He loves this song," laughs Bips. "He then introduced me to his mother, who is a big Bollywood fan, and she swore that Ronaldo was a Bollywood deewana!"

Back in Mumbai now with a trunkful of pleasant and thrilling memories, the lucky, star-struck actress is determined to keep in touch with her new friends regularly. "I am planning to send across some DVDs of my films and some other good Hindi films to Ronaldo. He said he wants to see them," blushes Bipasha.

Although there was a major crisis on stage Bipasha had herself a whale of a time in Lisbon. Just one regret. "John who's shooting in Pondicherry couldn't watch me at the Seven Wonders of the World Show. There was no electricity where he was. But I'll make him see the entire experience on a DVD."

The Teleprompters ceased to work during the Seven Wonders show in Lisbon. "The teleprompters conked out during rehearsal itself. We never thought it wouldn't work during the show. Then during the event the Teleprompters came on and just disappeared. It came on. I started reading. But then representatives from various countries walked by in front of the tele-prompters, so we couldn't see what was written, just had to go by my memory. Then it just went off! We had to read out from a paper. But my co-hosts Sir Ben and Hillary Swank were so good we managed without them. Somehow we pulled our segment through. I hope I managed well. The three of us laughed and had so much fun."

When the Taj was announced Bipasha was in seventh heaven. "The envelope announcing the Taj Mahal was with me. Everyone was so happy. Sir Ben is half Indian you know. His real name is Krishna. His great grandfather was Gujarati. He was really nice to me. So was Hillary Swank. We had so much fun."

Bipasha has made friends for life. "Hillary Swank and Sir Ben Kingsley are friends for life. I plan to keep in touch with them."

Then there was pop star Chaka Khan. "She was wonderful. I made everyone call me 'Basu' with a big pout. During the entire trip everyone would go 'Basooo Basooo' with a big pout. With that Basu thing going, no one could forget me at the event. They didn't know who I was. But everyone wanted to know who I was. The attention and appreciation was a big high. The whole experience was a dream come true."

Sighs Bipasha, "I'm exhausted. I did the Seven Wonders show, then I partied all night in Lisbon and took a flight back to Mumbai. I haven't had a chance to breathe. I landed in Lisbon on the 5th without my luggage and left on the 8th afternoon. It was a whirlwind tour."

I don't keep up with recent news lately, but I remember people complaining about her roles in Jism and Raaz? But I didn't see anything wrong with it, but I guess we're used to much worse over here.

neither did i...
she's actualy one of few actresss that are hot, flaunt their body... but don't whore out.
in the sence that she does it tastefully.

and fyi: even though ppl complained and bitched bout over exposure and what not... both those films were box office successes...

hypocricy much?

exactly.
neha dhupia is actualy pretty talented, gutsy and has a very bold personality for someone in the film industry.
however that doesn't always translater into great career choices :| unfortunately.

I think her bad girl image is what prompted me to watch raaz, jism and gunnah..or whatever other movies she has. It was something different from the usual, because I usually don't watch Indian movies.

People just need something to bitch about. :dunno:

her best film to date has been CORPORATE.
she completely went against her image in that one.
she was good in OMKARA and APAHARAN too... but her role wasn't that lengthy in either film.

agreed.
notice how the shilpa shetty-richard gere issue was blown to bits... yet no peep from anyone in india about this basu-ronaldo thing.
might have something to do w/ the fact that shilpa was on international star status after winning BIG BROTHER where-as bips is just another indian actress...

Oh yeah...I remember reading a survey where it said the general Indian public preferred the likes of Aishwarya Rai, and whatever girls who took on traditional roles...Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu scored low, because of their "sexual overtness," but they would be considered pretty tame according to Western stardards. I can see them not liking girls like Bipasha, because some aren't used to that in their cultural upbringing. To us, it's a different story.

wat pisses me off tho... is that the majority of ppl whine and bitch bout western influence being too dominant in indian films... but then those are the films that are the ones running to house full audiences... i.e.: DHOOM 2, MURDER, etc.

where as the films w/ traditional indian content and wholesome girls go ignored by those same ppl who are ever ready to condemn a girl for wearing a bikini on screen... i.e.: DOR, ANWAR, etc...

ha
i second that
=]

that's so true.

they watch the movie even though they've seen the commercials and trailers and what not;
murder was such a box office hit; yet mallika sherawat is the biggest hoe
well not the biggest; but you get the drift.
if people object to those kind of movies so much, why do they watch them while being aware of what kind of scenes are present?

hypocrites!
