its cause of the rice , everyone in my family complains as to their diet and they should change but they keep eating rice 7 days a week and the indian breakfast is all non healthy food too, its terrible. and the oil usually floats on the top for all dishes, i know ya'll seen that before!

but on the OTHER hand, u will see either fat uncles, or extremly skinny guju bois.... gujus especially have terrible jeans for gaining muscle..or its the laziness! :lol:

Ummm I don't think majority of desis grow up to be fat. Well I might be wrong there but DEFINITELY where I am from, and that's Kashmir, people of Kashmir aren't fat. And Kashmiris eat rice more than any other desi ethnicity so it's not rice either.. I think the thing behind everyone getting fat could be laziness like driving to a place that's 1.5 miles from ur house. Why not walk to it ? Desis would always avoid walking... and a little effort to get off their butts to get something done if there are easy ways around it ... Ciao Peace

hm i dont think 2 or 3 meals of rice work in america. i mean people in bd eat em cuz they need to for the long long long days. it gives u energy to burn so they can work all day.

Reason they get fat is part diet and part genetics...........also...........not many of them work out.........so when they get married they let themselves go.

well its wiere'd not all desis are fat but the thing is, alot of just get big bellys lol, but they look normal. and they tend to eat late dinners, 8 ..9 oclock. what time do u all eat dinner? and they store up on their carbs and then go straight to bed...

I don't have breakfast I have lunch at 12:30 and dinner at 7:00. I sleep no later than 11:30 pm on weekdays and no earlier than 2:30 am on weekends. Usually 10:30 pm on weekdays. Have to get up at 5:40 am u see, on weekdays Ciao Peace :D

I like to eat my momma's food and I think its very nutritious. She cooks squash, potato stuff, beef, chicken, and everything else. I dont' think this is unhealthy. I think people just need to exercise more.

No to the contrary the desi diet is very healthy... yes if you eat in moderation and the Healthy stuff.. i mean in every type of food there are some foods which are unhealthy..... oh and obviously if u cook in vanaspathi ghee ur gonna get fat... vegetable oil works just as wel....

I wouldn't call desis fat, but rather they have a horrible body shape with flabby belly issues. The body shape is analogous to that of a lizard with a belly. Among the FOB's, no one has heard of doing situps. If they talk of exercise, it usually means walking. Besides, the desis love their bread, and that's one of the most fattening foods there is. The young girls are skinny, but lack of muscle tone catches up with them by the time they hit 30, or have a baby...whichever come earlier.

The younger generation seems to be a lot more into fitness, probably from exposure to television and western popculture.

not all dsi food is fattening..mostly depending of what region...

punjabi=too much butter and carbs for eg..naan roti,butter..etc..

guju= too much empty calories coz too much sugar..

konkan=i think its healthy..they incorperate fish and other healthy meats.. n yeah they eat rice too but if u cut that out u should be fine!!

south indian= i heard its one of the healthiest outta most desi foods..then again everything is mostly made with rice flour.. but it also has alotta veggies etc...

maharashtrian=healthy again ..and most maharashtrains i know are fit!!

parsi=godamn..most fattening..too much butter...

bengali= i think its healthy..from what ive tried its not too bad..

ps: i might've missed out on some ... :D

wait wtf.. desis dont need to look after carbs n shit..that diet aint for us ,not really suitable for our lifestyle!!!unless u want to eat all the lard containing hambugers n shit go ahead...
