A pregnant teenager has been murdered in a "violent" knife attack in her own home, police said today.
Sana Ali, 17, was found by her sister-in-law in an upstairs bedroom with multiple knife wounds to her body at the house in Greater Manchester.
The girl who was married and two months pregnant with her first child, was rushed to hospital, but later died of her injuries.
Ms Ali - who was of Pakistani origin - lived in a large detached house in Throstle Grove, Bury, Greater Manchester with her 24-year-old husband, his brother and their parents. The husband's parents are currently abroad on holiday.
Detective chief inspector Keith Dillon, leading the murder hunt, said no one had been arrested in connection with the killing, but the girl's close family were being questioned.
A post-mortem examination was under way and the exact cause of death had yet to be formally established.
Det Ch Ins Dillon said: "There was a call to the ambulance service yesterday afternoon at about 4pm which was from her sister-in-law, that said (Sana) had been found with injuries which we believe are knife injuries.
"She was taken to Fairfield Hospital accident & emergency unit. There they worked on her for quite some time, but unfortunately she died.
"The indications are she has died from knife injuries - she has a number of injuries. It does look to be a violent attack.
Asked whether the murder appeared to be an honour killing, Mr Dillon said: "I haven't got any thoughts on that. We are interviewing the family to find out all the background.
"I am keeping an open mind on absolutely everything.
"That doesn't mean I think it is or that I think it is not."

UPDATE
Two held over pregnant teen murder
The husband of a pregnant teenager who was stabbed to death in her own home has been arrested by murder squad detectives.
The 24-year-old husband of Sana Ali, 17, and a 16-year-old youth were arrested by detectives on suspicion of murder.
Mrs Ali and her unborn child both died following the attack at her home in Bury, Greater Manchester, on Friday.
Mrs Ali, who was originally from Pakistan, moved to the UK five years ago.
The teenager's blood-soaked body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom of the property in Throstle Grove at around 4.15pm on Friday.
Sair Ali married Sana in December last year.
Paramedics took the teenager to Fairfield Hospital, but they were unable to save her or her unborn child.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a pregnant teenager in Bury.
"A 24-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested ...
"They are due to be questioned by detectives."

Seems like an honour killing- it happend down our end few months back in Oxford with a Bengali girl. Wonder who got her pregnant, if it even was her husband? Cant do shit like this and expect to get away with it! Its tragic and I hope justice is prevailed.

Amir Shazad stabbed 25-year-old Nusrat Ali, who was also his cousin, six times with a 12in kitchen knife before attempting to hang himself.
The two took part in a wedding ceremony against her wishes in Pakistan in 1999 and she attempted to prevent him following her to Britain.
Delays with a visa application meant it was more than three years before he joined her and her family in Middlesbrough. Once there the family denied his existence, he was made to sleep alone, eat separately sitting on the floor and was locked in a room when visitors arrived.
The marriage remained unconsummated and he was moved to the house next door after eight months, where he lived alone, Teesside Crown Court heard.
James Goss, QC, prosecuting, said 30-year-old Shazad had expected to live and sleep with his wife, but she hardly ever spoke to him.
Just before the killing in August he was excluded from a family event at the local mosque and complained about his isolation. As she left for her job as a laboratory technician at Easington Community School, Co Durham, the next day, he pulled her from her car and chased her to her front door where he stabbed her.
He left the knife by her side before going back into his house and hanging himself from a bannister. Police saved his life by cutting him down.
He said Shazad's wife had sent an e-mail to the Commonwealth Office opposing his visa application. She wrote: "I was forced into wedlock by my family by emotional blackmail by family members."
Shazad admitted the murder. His mother-in law, Nasreen Ali, who has five other daughters, wrote to the court saying she had forgiven him for the killing.
WHAT KIND OF A MOTHER WOULD SAY THAT? is she crazy?

recently i was downstairs and telling my mom both these stories and my dad interrupted me and was like hey your mom doesn't care. I was like umm excuse me i wasn't talking to you. (normally we get along very well however anything that makes pakistanis look bad freaks him out). So i was like anyhow and continued. He was like whatever you don't know the whole story. I was like umm no one deserves to be murdered you realize that right. He was like whatever i don't want to hear your bullshit stories and got up. So i was like yah well it's not bullshit and he was like hey i didn't raise my voice why are you getting upset. I was like well bc im a pakistani girl, of the age of being married i have compassion for these women and as the father of pakistani daughters you should too. Then he was like whatever like i said you don't know the full story so stop spreading these bullshit rumors. I told him i'd email him the links and he can open it when he's done freaking out.
ughhhhhhhhhhhh sometimes he annoys the crap out of me GRRRR!

that's a shame her child was just a few months old, if anything why couldn't the family just give her the divorce she asked for? Cases like this is exactly why organizations like Saheli were made and are so strongly supported by south asians.

there is a difference between saying something and actually feeling it.
if she says she has forgiven him, it might make him feel remorseful and thus kill himself and she will have justice for the death of her daughter.

i feel this dudes pain.
everyone knows that you get married to have lots of hot sex and he didnt get that, no wonder he was frustrated.
there is nowt wrong with freshies, one of the people who commands nearly all my respect is a freshy
and its funny, my whole family goes on about how "simple" and "backward" her way of thinking is and how my dad would never last the test of time with her.
nigh on 30 years later they are still together and he has never laid a finger on her, yet the "western" wives in my family are getting beaten up weekly.
