They have to cater for their demographics so they wont just 'lie' about using halal meat. You dont just get these certificates for shits and giggles. But I agree with most people here, McD's is just shit food. I was at gatwick airport last week, was Hank Marvin and I saw a McD's and some sandwich place and just the thought of eating food from there made me sick. Btw a lot of the Nando's outlets are halal, the ones in Ilford, Bethnal Green etc.

It's true, most fast-food outlets in predominantly asian areas in London and other parts of the UK serve halal food. They cant afford to miss out on the muslim spending.

even if the chicken is halal the workers still come in contact with pork and beef and i don't think they differentiate between the type of oils that they cook with (like they fry the chicken in the same oil as they do the beef and pork) so they can get mixed together turning that halal chicken into haram

i think it is unlikely that they will take that much precaution for halal stuff, in a fast food restaurant where the feed you shit that fell on the floor i doubt they are going to stop and think to cook the halal meat in a different oil to the other stuff, like they cook their bean burgers and chips in the same oil as where the meat has been cooked.

“gosh you're all so cynical. i doubt very much that they'd be lying, it' wouldn't be worth it.”

“Well if they tell you it's halal and they have the certificate then go try it.”

Their word and piece of paper may be worthless.

If you really want to know whether McDonalds in Southall (http://www.visitsouthall.co.uk/) is halal or not,
why not pop into the big mosque opposite, ask them and find out the truth.

If it’s too far to go just to find out, then read the article on the Southall website (http://www.visitsouthall.co.uk/News/NewsDetails.php?recordID=124) and then make up your own mind.

If that is too much effort,
is slaughtering carried out in a mechanised plant by fixed blade operation
(ie 1500 chickens per hour per person reading shahda) halal?

The trial was over months ago but it is still offering the halal options.

The HFA has actually given it the certification but whether it is really halal or not is debateable.

halal/kosher way to do it is the most humane which is why both muslims and jews do it that way since the animal feels no pain asone clean slit to the neck to the jugalar vein results in instant death. You've got to be kidding me if you think the animal is still alive after that.

jatka and what they do in most slaughter houses (single blow to the head) are very similiar....the animal is either decapitated in a single blow, or made unconsious/dead in a single blow....slitting an animals throat sure in hell isnt instant or quick...just imagine your throat being slit as u gasp for air and slowly just drown in your one blood

lol i'm guessing you've never seen those terrorist beheading videos because I've never see them alive for long after getting their necks cut.Do you know anything about anatomy ? I don't even know what to say if you think the animal is still alive after getting it's jugular completely severed .
BTW how is giving giving a blow to the head more human ? you may not even know if the animal is knocked out or dead nor can it neccesarily be knocked out in a single blow you might just give it a very bad headache .Hitting on the head then putting it throught the slaughterhouse would which likely be a more painful process for the animal since the whole killing process lasts longer compared to a single cut .This is the only method of slaughter which carried out by more than one religion so there must be a reason for it also there have been studies carried out which prove kosher/halal slaughter is the most humane but i can't say the same for your way.
I think your arguing just for the sake of it because you dislike muslims and don't wanna agree with their method.

i've heard they're haram, even though they say they're "halal"
Got told this by many people so it most lucky is true

Some people I know that are very into Islam and have done their research mentioned to me that the killing of the animal is stung (In Islam thats not prohibited to make the meat halal) and even if one of the chicken is stung or incorrectly killed, if you are aware of this you shouldn't go and eat at these outlets, chances are you might be eating the haram one. They may have the certificate but how likely is it that places like Maccy D's, Nandos, KFC, etc go out of their way to make it halal?

As much as I love Nandos and i miss it dearly, i went to Pandos in WhiteChapsl next to Nandos, isn't as great but it's Halal, and they are their for a reason and have that name for a reason as Nandos meat is not Halal.

If more people knew this and stood up to it more then maybe they could be truthful.

Can a certificate really quarantee that? If you know there are chances the animal has been stung then it is best to avoid such places.

i wouldnt trust any of these halal outlets. there was this nanados in our area everyone used to go to it, i avoided it cause i always had doubts despite the huge halal sign posted outside it!

turns out i was right their idea of zabeeha was to place a million chickens onto a conveyor belt stun them all and then send their electrocuted carcusses to the blades. oh and lets not forget the bismillah that was taped on a cassete player and made to play a billion times.

its even more messed up because even these normal self run halal takeaways do it to keep up with demand.

They apparently were stinging them completely, now after the truth coming out they do it a bit (even though thats haram) just to keep the chickens in control.

I think thats why they've got the Pandos in Whitechapel right next to Nandos to show a point.

But hey people thik just because a certificate says it then it must be halal. The local take aways are usual safe as they are run by Muslims(even though they could be dodgy meat who knows).

Am surpsied so many people in this thread haven't done much research and like all others assumed it must be halal because of a certificate.

Yea but the non-halal things get mixed with the halal things and so on so forth with the inverse of the original conundrum...

I think some of the ppl dont even know how Halal meat is mostly made and i think its just sad how they kill these animals just to make Halal meat but again i dont think most of these big chains do this anyways, and its just a way to get more sales.
To conform with Jewish and Muslim religious tradition, animals are prepared for halal products by having their throats slit while conscious - a method many people believe is inhumane and which the RSPCA has condemned.

I've been told that it isn't actually halal because it has been made by the hands of kafirs. Plus they spit in the burgers and swapping bodily fluids is also haaram.
