yeah i totally agree with you, but the thing was trying to explain to a young teen (who is an athist) that its against gods law to be a gay on a tv program is not gonna come off good coz then they will try and make the muslim lady and family out to be in a bad light, which they kinda did, and twist things like they always do. And protray muslims in a negative way.

Maybe if she sat down with the girl off cam, then try and explain in detail the reasons behind it, would have been better, and maybe then she would have better progress, inshallah.
oh and thanks for the other link, :D

Bro, this is the way of Allaah. the only reason why we lost all our honor is cuz we turned our backs to His religion in the first place init. So even if we blame them a million timez - that aint gna get us nowhere until we change ourselves.

This is what Allaah says in the Qur'an:

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allāh's Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent - Islāmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allāh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kāfirūn (disbelievers) hate (it). [Qur'an Surah Tawba [Repentance] 9:32]

The jews and the christians control most of the media, and its obvious they wna attack Islaam and all that, cuz they scared that people will see the true side to Islaam. It's the most logical and clear religion. And you know, we were a powerful people back in the day - why? Cuz we submitted to Allaah in full submission - so He gave us authority due to that.

We can keep complainin all the time.. truss i did this aswell, but then we still aint getin anywhere until we take them steps towards Allaah by opening His Book - the Qur'an (http://www.ummah.net/what-is-islam/quran/neindex.htm), and following His Messenger. How else we ever gna get anywhere? The earlier muslims got their honor through that, and we gota do the same to be like them and be successful in this life and the one to come.

Anyway, respect for u init cuz atleast u guyz are ready to hear me out. Thanks and that. :)

Peace.

hahaha, just watched it! it wasn't as bad as i expected actually. I thought it was pretty good - it showed some of the positives and negatives of religion. I don't see why exactly it caused such an uproar !?!

Only thing is, parts of it portrayed a kind of skewed/stereotypical view of things i guess. I expect a lot of people who watch it could come away thinking that all muslim familes are super-orthodox like that muslim family, and that all atheist/agnostic families are super-laidback like that other family.

Also, that was a really bad example of a lesbian, haha - i think i've been put off lesbos for life. afterall, when you think of lesbians, the image that usually springs to mind is something along the lines of britney spears *before* she got her head shaved, innit !?!

lol..the child was around the male gay couple and the muslim lady says " she might not but the child may end up being a lesbein"
lmao

lol, that part was hilarious.

i finally got to watch it.. n omg i don't know why that muslim family went on the show, if they are such practising muslims then they'd know that they shouldn't be parading about on tv.. or living in a non muslims house like that.. so that kinda confused me

i thought it was funny when the muslim lady told the lesbo to cover up her saggy tits n flab, hahahaha. the muslim family was uber strict though, n the kids had moustaches. you could tell the two daughters wanted more freedom but the mum said such a typical thing at the end "no more gigs, its a waste of time n money"

ahaha

Dude, I can sit here all day and say all the negatives about your looks but hey i have better things to do+don't judge on looks. All due respect to the Muslim family for going on the show, even if they are strict and to some would say they went over the board with their restrictions but it's good to know there are fully religious people out there.

ahahaMaybe they had a point to put across by broadcasting on TV about Islam, and who would have the guts to show Islam in a non westernised way? Instead of praising your fellow Muslims seems like the Muslims are the ones that are putting the religion down itself. The women had her points but she just didn't approach it properly but more of a Motherly sort of way. The kids wanted freedom but they still showed respect towards their parents to what most Desi kids do nowadays.

Get over the moustache thing, looks isn't everything.

ewwwww

It was very enlightening. The Muslim mom was a good mother in the traditional sense, but she is over bearing for her children (most desi moms r, regardless of religion). A woman with the mix of qualities between the muslim mom & gori mom would be perfect i think.

are you stupid or what?

regardless of that lame excuse youve given for them possibly going on the show, "proving a point by going on the show" isn't acceptable cos if you're gonna be totally religious you can't pick and choose what you're gonna do. you're not ALLOWED parading yourself on tv for everyone to see, it doesn't matter what the motive or reason for it is.

how am i putting the religion down? again you're chatting out your ass. i may not be a fabulous example of a practising muslim but i don't put my religion down thank you. i know what i'm talking about unlike you, who just starts effin and blimin'.

the woman didn't respect their choices. so what she didn't have to approve of the lesbian and whatnot but she didn't have to go in there all guns blazing. i don't see how she's done islam any favours, people already think that it's a totally controlling religion and i don't see how that family would have changed that view in any way shape or form.

n i know a lot of kids that show their parents respect, i dunno what company you keep or people you know.. but desi people i know of think a lot of their parents. n i never said th girls were competing for miss world that they needed fab looks, fool.

nah guys, dont argue init.. its bare obvious that the medias tryna promote islam in a negative way. buh wa we gota do is unite cuz thats what they fear the most. so no arguin n dat ayt? :)

O you who believe! Fear Allāh (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islām (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allāh.

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allāh (i.e. this Qur'ān), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allāh's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islāmic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allāh makes His Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided.

Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islām), enjoining Al-Ma'rūf (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism and all that Islām orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islām has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful.

And be not as those who divided and differed among themselves after the clear proofs had come to them. It is they for whom there is an awful torment.

On the Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) when some faces will become white and some faces will become black; as for those whose faces will become black (to them will be said): "Did you reject Faith after accepting it? Then taste the torment (in Hell) for rejecting Faith."

And for those whose faces will become white, they will be in Allāh's Mercy (Paradise), therein they shall dwell forever.

These are the Verses of Allāh: We recite them to you (O Muhammad SAW) in truth, and Allāh wills no injustice to the 'Alāmīn (mankind and jinns).

And to Allāh belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And all matters go back (for decision) to Allāh.

[Qur'an 3: 102-109 (http://www.ummah.net/what-is-islam/quran/noble/nobe003.htm)]
