Okay, I need to apply for unis soon and my parents are doing my head in and scaring the shit out of me. :| They want me to do medicine at uni, but I've decided I want to do a maths degree instead. Now they're telling me that if I do that, I can only work in a bank. :-s I was speaking to my cousin and he said I'd have a lot of career opportunities and my mum was asking me what were they are. The thing is, I have no idea. :| I really don't know the type of job I want when I'm older so I was just hoping some of you lot could enlighten me on the type of jobs I could get if I did a degree in maths.
Please and thank you!

lol yeah i'm gonna apply for the good ones, but i'm a bit puzzled, 'cause what if i regret doing it? Like, there might not be any good jobs that I'd want to be stuck in for about 40 years of my life :|

i believe it was my favourite new york jew squad who said
"you gotta fight..for your right..to parrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtay"
do so and you cannot go wrong.
do what you want to do, not what your parents want as chances are you will fuck it right up as you have no enjoyment.

That isn't true they try to pressurize you to finish UCAS by then but you don't have to actually finalise it until February time. Ignore the college dates go on UCAS and it will tell you.

hmmmmmmm what are ur predicted grades
if ur gonna do med / dent u gotta do that new test and apply by oct 15th
uni choice is hard
choose 2 amazing
2 average
2 easy
or 4 average
look for grades incase u slip
do work exp in diff carreers even a day or so can help u decide
where job prospects r concerned...most unis have employment pie charts...so start looking through
if all fails go on the ucas site...and do alphabetical list of courses....keep looking at each letter, and write down something thats remotely interesting
then do ur research keep it brief
course / uni / grades / 3 good points ... 1 negative
should help u sort something out
dont worry u got the 6 weeks hols 2
meanwhile do as much voluntary work / extra curriculars as poss and get started on an ace personal statement

emm.... thats bs. dont kno about maths, but as for engineering, only around 12% of graduates with engineering degrees actually go into engineering... since a large part of engineering is maths i'm assuming that the same wud apply to maths...
but then again if u'r gna do a degree in maths u cud become an actuary... what they do is basically use maths to assess risks... they get around £90,000 pa
