Who is he? Chinese? Tibetan? If he is chinese then his countrymen already fought pretty hard to kick the old world order out of china and into taiwan 60+ years ago and my guess is 99% of chinese on the mainland probably dont think theres a point dying for another revolution. Who is he and whats his gripe? What justice is he seeking?

Anything you believe in is worth fighting for.
Anything that you want to... It may wrong to others. But if you want to keep something... Fight for it.
You may not win but at least you can die knowing you tried.

does it matter who he is? i deliberately didn't include the context of the picture to make u guys think in abstractions. we get seduced by the evocative nature of our schmaltziness to fall into the trap of thinking exclusively in terms of ideology. i say fuck ideology, humanity is indispensable. Me, You and that Man in the picture transcend a freakin ideal.

Well the thing is, Im tired of thinking in abstractions. Its just too easy. I like a dose of reality and cynicism once in a while. So heres my little injection of that in this thread. Sometimes you just gotta say to yourself: "who the fuck cares". I mean....yes its good to get emotional once in a while and buck the system but then again, it can be done on a much lower and subtle level too.

what? there are a set of contradictions in your response that befuddle me. u advocate "realism' and "cynicism" yet both are rooted in an anarchic struggle against the hegemony (powers that be) just like the old dude in the picture which u detest. are u trying to unleash a diatribe or something? thinking about the intangible, the abstract is the most difficult thing. just ask the dead poets. well that might be hard since there dead, but i'm sure they would reaffirm everything i said. my empirical evidence of suffering was giving u a dose of pragmatism; i'm a realist, a genuine one thats why i support movements for social change. btw, the big secret about the dude in the picture is that he marching in a protest, 500, 000 strong to debunk the illegitimate election results in Taiwan (which the US tried to legitimate fyi a couple days ago). it made big headlines over the world especially among the circles that want the US to stop intervening in Taiwan and South Korea,
