The indomitable love triangle reigns supreme. The same plot is twisted and flogged by fame thirsty directors into barely different storylines, and sold to IDIOTS like YOU all over the world. Take a closer look, every new movie that you pay to rent or watch in theatre has a guy shaking his azz in it. In essence, its the same thing YOU would be quick to point out as QUEER or GAY in an american movie. The sad Indian/Pakistani public is the victim of this senseless battle of one-upmanship. The movies of these retarded magnatude; now, seem to be churned out for the sake of flashy clothes, irrelevant dreams, cheesiest lyrics, pathetic dialogues, and a couple chasing each other in a green field scattered with trees, while they change clothes miraculously every five seconds. The fact is, Bollywood and this Lollywood dont even come close to ground realities.

Hollywood films, on the other hand, though some do have weird storylines; reflect emotions, feelings, sentiments and scenarios which one can relate to and empathize with. Ample proof is available in the fact that movies such as ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Last of the mohicans’ have been dubbed into urdu and hindi due to popular demand. It is my belief, that unlike Hollywood, which markets the story and adds the frills , these dumb azzed brown people markets the frills and THEN add the story.

If we were to say that Hollywood were an innovative product wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper, Bollywood is a used cardboard box wrapped in a sub-standard wrapping paper. Yes, you guessed it, my ignorant indian movie loving friends....the selling point is the wrapping paper, not even the box!!

By now, it is evident to the consumer that Hollywood, has much more to offer than its subcontinental counterpart. With the advent of Hollywood, the desi “movie-goer” has been liberated from the manacles, which tethered him to the same old storylines that are the trademarks of a Hindi movie.

At one time, Hollywood, in the subcontinent, was a novelty. Since the international giants of media (warner bros., Columbia, tristar) realized that Pakistan and india were a potentially ENORMOUS market, A GULF of western entertainment has reached their shores. With access to something superior, something better, something actually “enjoyable”, the desi consumer is no longer forced to while away his precious time on meaningless, dull and boring Bollywood and Lollywood rubbish! I mean even the names of the entire industry is frickin PLAGARIZED!!!!

And seriously, who the phuck has the time to spend 3½ hrs in a movie theatre?? Unless ofcourse if its a film from the trilogy of lord of the rings, then its another story...hehehe. Besides, why watch the carbon copy; when you have the original?

They each offer something. I like Bollywood movies - I love the singing and dancing. It is its own unique mark that Hollywood of today no longer deals with. And even then, most Hollywood musicals were just that, musicals. Bollywood movies take a movie and incorporate song into it.

Add lots of pretty women lacking in some Hollywood movies and you have nice films to watch :)

I *do* see a lower production value of Bollywood movies, that is obvious if you watch most of them. I don't care too much, but a lot of people who notice that do point it out, that Hollywood has better production values.

I'm happy being able to watch both.

While you are right, Bollywood movies still lack good stories. Majority of the stories are with love 95% of the time and while even most Hollywood movies also have love associated in them, they still do it more cleverly. I stopped watching Bollywood movies, because they just don't do it for me anymore. I recently watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It was a love story though done in a VERY clever way only Charlie Kaufman could write. Bollywood however despite its 900 - 1000 films a year, only about 5 ever gross good sales.

In about 5 - 10 years, look for me. 8)

There is nothing wrong with the Bollywood movies. It's just meant for ppl with diffrent tastes. I am assuming that ppl who are talking againt Bollywwod movies in this thread were brought up in western culture.

After comming to US, I realized that Indian movies are watched all over the world...The Russians, Solamians, Chinese and all other ppl watch these movies too. They infact like the idea of music and dance in these movies.

My friends here should realize that it is a money making industry, as long as they make money they r all good. The movies with the same plot again and again can stillmake more then what was invested in it. Also the fact that they are limited means of recreation for southasians, watching movies is one of them. So, no matter what they will watch it.

People in southasia are so used to the idea of 3.5 hr movie that 2 hr movie seems short to them. I personally watch all the desi movies I come accross.

Yeah it's true that bollywood flicks are low budget n often lack a decent plot, many are copied, most are too long...but i dunno they still seem to do it for me. There's still a huge market for these things n they're probably still making money despite all the piracy which goes hand in hand with this industry.

Personally a few hindi movies sorta got to me. K3G changed my life in a way and i've heard i wasn't the only one affected by this movie.

I think that if bollywood movies were made with a little more thought, a little more money and an attempt to branch out they'd do really well. Oh and as well as that i reckon they should make more english desi films.

For DesiNoI
There is nothing wrong with the Bollywood movies.
Yes there is. Material wishes, fast cars, big riches...

It's just meant for ppl with diffrent tastes.
People of lesser mentality, or a material one.

I am assuming that ppl who are talking againt Bollywwod movies in this thread were brought up in western culture.
Nope, I wrote that and I've grown up in Pakistan. People watch indian movies there equally as they do in india...Besides I barely came here 6 years ago.

After comming to US, I realized that Indian movies are watched all over the world...The Russians, Solamians, Chinese and all other ppl watch these movies too.
Why I have never heard of seen anything like this. The closest comes to ABC people watching them.

They like the idea of music and stories
Well, thats why they have broadway, stage shows, etc.

My friends here should realize that it is a money making industry, as long as they make money they r all good.
Its because these movies are primarily made for the poor working class of india which consists of labors, janitors, clerks, etc....hence the moronic materialistic story lines.

Also the fact that they are limited means of recreation for southasians,
Again, read the above answer.

People in southasia are so used to the idea of 3.5 hr movie that 2 hr movie seems short to them.
I don't know, lets take a poll here and then we will know how south asians think about sitting in a movie for dam near FOUR HOURS!!!!!

really? they STILL do it for you? Then what does that tell us about your intellect.

There's still a huge market for these things
Yes they are made for the poor working class of more then 600 million people in India.

Hey so i'm easily pleased, it ain't a crime....n it may be made for the poor working class of india but people still watch these films worldwide. As for bashing my intellect, that's a low blow...i don't really watch movies for intellectual stimulation....a lil fantasy is good for the soul!
