It's always been this way. One city celebrates it on one day and it's neighbouring city celebrates it on the other day

Dunno when I'm, celebrating it yet. Most probably the 30th cause Saudi declared that Hajj is on the 29th. But the other mosque serves amazing snacks after Eid prayers and all my close friends and cousins go there :ashamed:

First off we need to stop generalizing. Enough Paki's celebrate eid on the right day as well and if you think I'm saying that just cause I'm Paki then think again cause I'm half Indian as well.

What's pathetic is that even though Hajj is on the 29th, some people feel the need to celebrate it on the 31st, and those people my dear are a bunch of wankers.

i never knew u were a scholar, damm, 1st thing u need to know every single mosque in the uk follows there own school of thought! so cus of that they celebrate there eid according to the time that is sat by that particular school. most imams that come from pakistan belong to differant schools of thought. cus of that some belive we should celebrate eid before the arabs and some belive after the arabs. i personally go with the after motion, our day starts from from mecca n medina not from the london or islamabad

come on us youngster lack the moral understanding of our own faith and we are going to take over the comitte, u make me laugh, first of all your concern about going clubbing and what bar and club to attend n we call ourselves muslim. we should be ashamed to even utter these words that we are muslim. our elders try there best, try n live the lives by the book and all we show them is a lack of respect and cuss the comitee and the imam down whgen the eid done on the wrong day. we follow our imam, if our imam makes a mistake then he will answer to god not us.

we should respect their decision not question them. if you want to question that decision then become a scholar so you got and equal footing with them, for me eid is a very sad day. ppl in the muslim world spend that day doing qurabis we spend that day letting ourselves be qurban to satan. atleast on this eid do something differant remeber ur maker, remeber ur propherts rember the hard times the sahabis spent spreading islam. on this day we should start a new journey a journey of elightment and deen not spent in the prsence of shaytan and in his kingdom of clubs n bars

I agree with wht ur saying. Wht my point is tht, Islam is SUPPOSE to be the same for every Muslim, so why do u need to elect, and FIGHT over how the Mosque is Run, if there is suppose to only be ONE correct way!!

Our community used to be ONE big Mosque, now there are 5 Mosques within 3 streets of each other, due to fighting between individuals. ok,,

school of thought has nothing to do with this,,,

every school of thought has the same way of doing eid evry school of thought prays together in macca every school of thought is correct.

majority of pakistan follows the school of thought of hanafi fiqk. and that does not mean the people who follow Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali school will do the eid different from each other..

people from all these different school of thoughts will do hajj together and do eid together in macca so why cant the rest of the world do it together like them.

i know what u are saying in my home town its the same problem we got 4 mosque, three belong to the mosque comitte the other one to wahabbi. the problem decends from is few years ago there was a group of ppl that used the mosque money as a personal bank loan to set up businesse. imagine an interest free loan and no payment plan method. because of this the worshippers demanded a less currupt mosque comiitee and to have finacial details published every jummah. our mosque has a weekly turn over of over 2.5k from donations from jummah. this dosnt include the money the mosuqe makes from renting out shops. when u work it out theres alot of hard currency floating around and if u dont trust the ppl in power that can abused it.
i do undestand the concern of the community they built there own mosque from there own pay checks not from a grant. they feel obliged to know whats going on. root of all evil is money

i don't think anyone is giving fatwas.. i think we r just discussing and sharing our opinions.. nothing wrong with that :D

im not talking about you lot,,im on about those in your mosque who decide eid should be a day after everyone else.

ok,,

school of thought has nothing to do with this,,,

every school of thought has the same way of doing eid evry school of thought prays together in macca every school of thought is correct.

majority of pakistan follows the school of thought of hanafi fiqk. and that does not mean the people who follow Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali school will do the eid different from each other..

people from all these different school of thoughts will do hajj together and do eid together in macca so why cant the rest of the world do it together like them.

this is for di vincis other post

some people belive we should celebrate eid after saudi arabi not before. thats where the confusion starts. our day starts from saudi arabi follow to pakistan then to the usa then the uk. thats the way i understand things

some people are thick and iggronant sp and arrogant as it says knowledge without zik leads to ignorance and zikr with out ilm = knowledge leads to arrogance,,,,
listen eid is a day after hajj,, hajj is on friday, so eid will be on saturday simple.... if you wana do it on sunday fair dos,,, but just rememebr that ultimately eid is a day after hajj.

yeah.. but if you are currently living in the US .. u r not there...
do you pray according to mecca medina timings?? if so..
but i hope u don't... so why celebrate eid according to their moon sightings...
praying is by sunset.. sunrise... noon... everything to do with sun... but u follow the timmings here for that.. why not for eid?Have to disagree with you here. I know what you're getting at and I agree with you on ocassions of Ramadhan or Eid-ul-fitr, the moon sightings should be followed precedent by location. But not here since Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated based on the 10th day of Hajj. And Hajj is primarily performed in Mecca unlike prayers or fasting which is performed elsewhere.

The day starts from maghrib, so they know when eid starts, especially eid-ul-adah as that is decided 10 days ago. With eid-ul-fitr they sometimes have issues in deciding if a new moon was sighted. But that should be in a rear case that eid is done a day after as they can easily do it on the same day if there are 30 fasts the issue will only arise if 29 are done. Even then there is sufficient time.
