Pakistani music getting Popular
Islamabad, Dec 2 (IANS) Indian music no longer reigns in Pakistan. It is yielding place to Pakistani musical creations, especially in the past six years, according to a survey.
A recent survey by Gallup, Pakistan, showed that Indian music has been steadily waning in popularity while Pakistani music has gained many new listeners. But Indian songs still enjoy a lot of popularity, Daily Times quoted the survey as saying Sunday.
Over a third (37 percent) of Pakistanis prefer Indian music while one-fourth (19 percent) listen to only Pakistani songs. Another 38 percent like both Pakistani and Indian songs.
The exclusive preference for Indian music was at its highest - 54 percent - in 1980, which declined to 50 percent in 2000, before dropping to 37 percent in the 2006 survey.
The ratio of people who only listened to Pakistani music nearly doubled from 27 percent to 42 percent during 1980 to 2000.

dude this is true..i see loads of my indian mates listening to pakistani music..it appeals more to younger people..whereas they like bollywood movies and so on the dont like most of the music in those movies..india has started taking on many many singers from pakistan and even bangladesh to get them to sing songs in their movies and in general to release albums there..and it appeals to pakistani singers because they have their fan base in their own country gives them a new challenge and bigger audience

Paki music is preety good, indian music sounds more pop-ish and filmy.
where as paki music sounds more Rock such as Junoon, Strings, Vital Signs.
its more poetic. its not always about stupid love songs you here over and over again in indian music. I mean listen to adnan sami songs, and abrar al haq..theres always such a deep meaning behind all the songs. Your really missing out. Not to mention alot of indian songs are copies off pakistani songs, such as "chainya chainya" and "billo de ghar", and songs by Shazia Mansoor.
I mean i wouldn't really say one is better then the other. I find them too different to compare. its like preferring N'sync to Nickleback. There 2 differnt things.

who doesn't know Nadia Ali. Her voice is just like what's her face from Fleetwood Mac. She does a lot of work with John Creamer and Stephane K. But a lot of folks won't know that since it's mostly underground electronic music known as progressive house.
