There's a chance that the guy who acts like he loses respect for you just got scared and confused when you approached him. A lot of guys aren't used to girls being upfront, so they may act like an idiot on the outside even though they secretly like you first move on the inside.

When I was in middleschool/early highschool, I used to "freeze" too when a guy who I liked would approach me. That guy would think that I was being a bitch and didn't like him, but I was just too nervous about what to say. :dunno:
