Anyone heard the Ludacris song "Runaway Love"? Of course you've all heard it, I just needed a way to start off this thread. Now, I love the song; it's deep, emotional, reality & all-in-all, it's good music. However, there is one thing that really pisses me off. How you gon' make a song like "Money Maker" & turn around and make "Runaway Love". It's not a paradox it's rather a total contradiction. I'm not really too querulous; I'm not sure if this contradiction "pisses" anyone else off but it strikes a nerve for me. Perhaps it's 'cuz I'm very choleric.

EDIT: For anyone who hasn't heard it, http://youtube.com/watch?v=BykclTGVEBc

So what is it's a total contradiction?

You can relate this to your life. Humans contradict themselves all the time. I bet there are some things you have done which won't make sense to your family/friends becuase of your history.

But good song, thanks.

Yes, it's a good song. This is art, something that is "oh so lost" in the present day.

Errr, personally I'm rather consistent because of my principles & desire to be perfect, but, for sure there are a few contradictions in my life, which most probably eventualize because of circumstances. What Ludacris did is rather-- -- There's too many words to describe it & I wish not to fall short of the task in an attempt. Just put it this way, what he does is well broadcasted.

The song I believe should be shared and available for the remarks of vox populi.

Ludacris is a smart man, a lot of songs he does is merely for entertainment/popularity..and rarely that much meaning to it.

Just like Casino Royale.

You don't understand what my rant is about. Hmmm, a simpler way in which you might understand ---> You will rarely see such variance in Nas' music.

A lot of ghetto pop nowadays. When you grow up poor, hopeless and then you rise to superstardom via the grand hustle of the music business, you're bound to have split personalities. It's all about the paper homeboy.

Hmmm, if you look at Jay-Z..He doesn't talk about being poor or gangsta anymore. He will talk about,
a) Rich shit
b) When he USED to be poor

I'm simply saying, some consistency is good.

Another example is Eminem. He's done venting about the media, being poor, his mother, his "x" father, Kim.. .. .. The list goes on. There's always consistency.

I just remember watching this, and absolutely struggling to take the words seriously after seeing Ludacris.

The words were deep, but all I could see was "rolllllout!"

Don't compare him to Nas. He is Ludacris, not Nas

No not at all. You're pulling out a few examples of individuals in the industry. Let me ask you this: Is there a consistency between personalities of individuals in the music business? Correct, thats a big no. Plus you don't know them and their reasons for doing what they do. Perhaps record sales have gotten low and they need a club banger to keep their name in the spotlight. Do you really think at this point Jigga or Eminem need that? Of course not, they are established. This pattern that you mentioned is apparent with Ludacris is rampant in the mainstream music industry for many reasons which are subjective from person to person.

Hence the Eminem comparison? Either way, Luda will be greatly remembered once he's gone. He's a legend atm & will be if he doesn't make any awful decisions in the future.
