Why is everyone racist?
I'm a muslim and honestly can say that everyone "with no exceptions" is racist towards Muslims, black people asians but mainly Muslims.
It seems that they would jump at the opportunity to say something racist and hateful to me than say a good word.
i have been called a f***in muslim terrorist an iraqi bastard a f***in Indian(even though im neither Iraqi nor Indian) racist phone calls were made to me.
does anyone know why people are like this? It's really hurtful and it takes it's toll at my patience and forbearance to ignore such racist remarks.

Someone once said to me that white people are racist cuz they are the majority. They feel they are better than you. If you go to muslim countries, they will probably do the same against whites. The majority always feels more powerful, and they are (not saying it's justified...)

woah! im muslim and i live in north america and i have seen people passing on their racist comments to other muslims, but the ones u have mentioned are pretty strong. i guess racism is too much of an issue where u live. phone calls? now thats an extreme, especially to me cz i never came across somthing like that. i would be pretty scared if i were u.

SarcasmicBengali

it depends on where you are the kind of ppl you're being exposed to...
i'm in toronto too, and lived in scarboro for 7+ yrs. i was born muslim but dont consider myself a muslim...
but i have never personaly experienced any racism towards myself or anyone that i know...ever.

havin said that...
despite all the enlightened msgs and shit we are taught and told the diff. between right and wrong, its inherent within us...
the world we live in points out our differences even while sayin that the differences don't matter and equality is prefered.
and thats just more emphasized w/ all this political correctness bs that just makes racial issues even more sensitive even when there's no issue at all!

racism is a problem that bigots have... all you can do it deal w/ it and keep ur head held high.
dunt let ppls comments/reactions to who u are affect u or let urself be embarassed by it
its their problem... dont let them make it ours...

Yea, Toronto is getting worse with the hypocrits and Muslim-haters. There are more white people here than brown people and they pick on the religion as the bases to criticize because its an issue in the world media. Now I'm thinking if I should hate back at them? But if If he is bigger then me, I can do NOTHING. If he is the same height as me, I can try talking to him. If he is smaller than me BEAT him UP. UNLESS he has a BIGGER BROTHER in that case move to another city. I dont think telling someone to change his perspective will work

U R right. I guess RACISM WILL ALWAYS EXIST. In every single aspect. Whites will hate brown/blacks, browns/blacks will hate whites...I should get over it. The day we realize that is the day it will get better! I guess unfortunately its human nature to think that their race/gender/hair color/eye color/style/everything is superior to anyone elses.

:flower: good point. Maybe telling people I will pray for them that they will see we are all God's creation- pray for them to release their sin of hate so that God will let them pass the golden gate.
That might work?
Or ignorance....because when confronted they will deny all allegations. Ok if I approach the authorities (police, government) how un biased are they themselves. We know very well how white officers behave towards Paki/Indian/Muslim complaints.....so avoidance is the best policy.

if people neveer had such mentality then cultures wouldn't exist like what we have today. Some assholes like us sit down and talk about "our" amazing culture and traditions, that's technically an act of racism somewhat in a neutral way.. simply because we're not exactly ACCEPTING either. Our own people look and put down on people from different backgrounds.

Next time you feel bad about racism... think about 4 year old little girls being raped in Congo for months, her mother witnessing her husband being cut into pieces, cooked and ate in front of her... what are you doing to stop that?
Nothing! so shut the fuck up and stop wining about petty blues...

Mmm.....yeah i get your point.

Well I think that racism is part of human nature..:dunno:. It comes from the human desire to be part of a group, fear of the unknown, and domination. It will never disappear until the human race has evolved to the point where it is no longer necessary to be part of groups or have fear of the unknown. Since this will never happen, racism is here to stay. People should minimize it, educate the young so that it doesn't dominate their thinking, and learn how to deal with it in society so that it never looms large and dominates society.

We need unity just like how black people stick up for each other. If Muslims stand up for one another, you know just how amazing this world would have been. Yet the silence is deafening from the Muslim community about terror? Yes ... the silence is deafening. Muslims herd together to howl and riot, rage and rant by the thousands about ... "cartoons" ! But not a word decrying decapitations or the abominable treatment of women or the use of women and children as human exposive devices all in the name of Islam !
It would go a long way to show us that Islam = Peace instead of terror.

DO I HAVE TO EAT CHINESE WITH CHOPSTICKS?

that was an example.. it's unecessary to educate yourself too much about another ethnicity, simply because people from that won't even COUNT you in regardless of how well you blend in. When someone attempts hard to learn about a certain race, the people from the race sees that as a sign of "insecurity". Just mild understanding is all you need about every race/culture on the globe.

Thats a good point, yeah i can somewhat agree with you there. Its a flip side coin Prat, on one side you have the self advantage of educating yourself. Its not always for the reason alone to blend in with another culture or part of society. But more so about having that upper hand above those who are less willling to look beyond their ignorance. I do feel that if you have the knowledge of other cultures etc..then it gives you a different aspect on things.

You have to rememeber those people who hold racism are the one's who are insecure and hold a fear within themselves.

Why are we ashamed then to wear eastern clothes outdoors or to speak in our language when standing next to a white person? Maybe that's why I get picked on, I am not ashamed to be Pakistani. A lot of us are losing our roots just so that we don't have to deal with being an outsider.

That is quoted out the bible though right...

Every religious book has a different turn on this, and well the Guru Granth Sahib in Sikhism never states such words  infact women are placed equally higher than a man. You should read some of the text scripts..and you will find proof of this.

yea but look at the origin of Sikhism, the Guru Nanak simply claimed that god spoke to him (THERE IS NO PROOF FOR THIS)...and he wrote scriptures that were changed by MANY other gurus...if you read these scriptures and base your life on them, you're literally letting a group of HUMAN BEINGS telling you how to live your life

The scriptures were not changed by other guru's, Guru nanak was simply the founder of sikhism. As for the texts within the granth sahib each has its own script to the 10 guru's. Of course they were just human being's, but thing about Sikhi is to have a equal outlook in life, not to hold back but to spread the word of peace. It doesnt state you should do this and that..to extremes

and here is a quote bout women....

"We are born of woman, we are conceived in the womb of woman, we are engaged and married to woman. We make friendship with woman and the lineage continued because of woman. When one woman dies, we take another one, we are bound with the world through woman. Why should we talk ill of her, who gives birth to kings? The woman is born from woman; there is none without her. Only the One True Lord is without woman" (Guru Nanak Dev, Var Asa, pg. 473) "

Yes your right that man did write the bible and they included passages like these to dominate over women but most forwad thinking chrisians believe God saw men and women as equal. There are passages in the bible that state women should have the upmost respect.

in that case, I won't catergorize sikhism as a religion, but more as a way of life, like Buddhism, because it is mostly composed of teachings by learned people, do you agree?....However, religions of salvation (Islam, Christianity, Judaism) are all inventions of a scared and unsure society

Why are we ashamed then to wear eastern clothes outdoors or to speak in our language when standing next to a white person? Maybe that's why I get picked on, I am not ashamed to be Pakistani. A lot of us are losing our roots just so that we don't have to deal with being an outsider.

well i'm not... i wear kurtas and crap all the time if i'm in the mood and go out in them regardless of the occassion or w/e...
and speakin in our language has nothing to do with being shamed... i just consider it rude when two ppl speak in their own language when they're w/ a crowd of frnds of other ethnicities...
otherwise if i'm w/ frnds who all speak the same language, i have no problems in speakin to em regardles of where i am or who's around...

to me, it's not about respect...it's about COMPLETE equality, I lost my faith in Islam when I read a verse that stated men could have multiple wives but women could not have multiple husbands?? WTF? If cleavage and sexual parts of your body are showing, men are bound to look at it and make comments,

what the fuck? if you wear a certain type of clothing to prove something to people, then by all means NO ONE CARES,if you're comfortable with it,then fine.

This isnt religion this is general common sense, it has nothing to do with patriarchy against men. If you think equal opportunities matter so much then be bold and take off your bra and have a walk around the neighborhood, i bet you wouldnt even have the imaginary balls for that now will you?

Well it is a religion in its own right, but yes definately a way of life. Shows equality of mankind and denounces superstitions and blind rituals...

Sikhi teaches that salvation consists of knowing God.. or in being absorbed into God and that God is unknowable, and most certainly is unknowable in a personal sense. God is One, but his manifestations are many. God is not a Person, but rather an abstract principle of truth or reality.

Well, who translated this and is that site or textbook where she got it from valid?

There's a lot of bullshit and distortions going on there about different religions.

You guys should watch that South Park episode where the priest says, "The bible just tried to give real life stories to help us understand what's wrong or right. We don't have to live by every single rule that was ordered back then...Just recognize between what's moral and immoral" :dunno:

agreed...
i find that ppl's main criticism of religous teachings is proof and evidence and a proven existance of God or connection to any higher being between the certain religion/way of life in question...
who cares if there IS a God or not... who cares if Jesus was the son of God or not... if you agree w/ wat he said and the whole compassionate and
merciful shpeil.... then thats all that shud matter....
if u find the message and teachings of a specific school of thought as being moraly right and good and something u can dedicate your life to followin... then thats all that should matter...

why does faith have to be based on undisputed proof...?
religious teaching and messages like everything else learned in life shud be used in combination with our own sence of right and wrong... not blindly followed...
only when a certain way of life is followed objectively and one is allowed to be skeptical and inquisitive of religion and its teachings is when a proper balance can be found between faith and the reality of life...
