you will seem way too dressed up and like ur doing too much to impress them. from what i understand punjabis hardly ever wear saris, only for really formal stuff, like weddings, most of the time they wear salwar kameez. so tahts what i think. i think u should take chucky-666 advice about what to wear. seemed the most reasonable.

as for the kurta and jeans, i think it depends on how modern his parents are. like if they are the more traditional type then i'd say stick with the salwar kameez. if they are less traditional then kurta/jeans might be ok :)
