My account is open, but I need to deposit funds. I thought they would let you do it online, but you don't have that option. So, I sent a check and I believe they lost it because it was sent in one of those self addressed envelopes from Scottrade. I sent another check Wednesday, I will see if they deposit the check on Monday. All I want to do is buy an ETF fund.

You can't do online deposit? That blows for an online investment firm.

Are you opening an IRA? or going for a taxable account?

Taxable. I hope they deposit the funds by tue. If not, I'm canceling the account.

So I asked for an information booklet and application forms from Scottrade. Someone even called me to confirm the address.

However it's been 2 weeks since and I haven't gotten anything. These guys are rather slow.

My account has finally been funded. I hope they are slow at executing orders. I can send you a link that will give you 3 free trades from Scottrade.

why would you hope they are slow at executing orders?

Please do send the link. Though how long is it valid till. I might not trade till the start of 2007.

I am thinking of setting up a Roth IRA account with them.

i've been with scottrade a long time. opening a roth IRA is a smart choice. There are some good ones out there if you do the research. if you need a link, PM me and I'll be happy to give you 3 free trades.
