In a row. Since there was a benchpressing thread I thought I would do a pushup thread since way more people are into them. I can do around 50 to 60 barely, was only able to do around 20 a while back and Im trying to build up to over 100.

How many sets/total can you do. Im wondering if its better to do 100 in sets of 20 and then make em 4 sets of 25 and then 30 and build up to 100 or 200 total reps...I dunno. But the way I built up to 50 from 20 was first by doing reps of 10 with 60 second breaks and then after a while I could do them all in a row. Wierd huh?

now its been awhile since i been doin them i do dimonds pushups try thouse see how hard they are i can do bout 50 in a row till i colaps... other then that regular push ups bout 90 sometimes 100 then i colaps again lol

Hmm, at max I think I've done about 90. You just have to do push ups every day, little by little increasing your max number. If you stop you'll lose progress quickly, trust me.

so the max i can do is early 30..like 31 or 32..i forgot, never tried in the LONGEST time..meh

Before I joined the army, I thought I could easily do 50 (I had slowly increased to that). However at basic, they didn't count half of my pushups for initial test. Your body has to move up and down in a straight line, and in the down position, your elbows have to be higher than your shoulders. In the up position, your hands have to be straight, and you have to come to a complete stop, before going down again. I could only do 16 proper ones when I started basic. When I passed the torture weeks, I could do 52 (That's all we did..during basic for about 50 % of the day...pushups, situps..and lots of running).

I rolled out of the couch just now....and could barely do 20 proper ones. Oh well..enough to...never mind..its a family show.

We hardly worked with weights during PT. It was all calisthenics..pushups, situps, leglifts, military press etc...etc. we also had long marches where you had to hold your M-16 in front of you held high with 100 lbs on your back. The march was a breeze for me...but holding that M-16 high use to kill me. To answer your question...I am sure you couldn't do quite a bit he can do in his daily work too. Its specialization.

Just did 48 "Marine Corps" Push Ups (about 96 regular) ...its best to do them in sets and do them wide arms...or do it in the USMC count......1,2,3,1 1,2,3,2 1,2,3,3 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,5 Etc... Trust me knock them out before bed and in the morn or stretching warm up excercise.....you will see results.......It a habit I picked up before bootcamp....and one Ive continued for almost 4 years......It takes such little time, but you literally feel the results as time goes on......Take care....Kamran

Anyone tried one of these things before. Its a pushup combined with a squat and a sorta lurch up into the air.

Its supposed to be used by cops, soldiers and prisoners and is supposed to work very fast in building you up and giving you overall tone and coordination. pushups and squats by themselves are somewhat isolated but this burpee gives your back and abs a nice bit of torture as well.

You start by doing a pushup and then you sorta lurch into a squatting position and then jump up and as soon as you hit the floor you spread out and do another pushup. I'm thinkin of adding this to my daily workout routine...when I errr....have a daily routine that is :oops:

You ever heard of this BURPEE thingy? Its a pushup, squat and jumping jack all rolled into one. Prisonors, armed forces and police use it to get in shape at rapid speed.

Hmmm I think thats also refered to as a pullup. And I cant do any cuz I dont have a bar around to do them on. So 0. I guess I could try doing one as I hump one of my doors. It wont be a legit one but the closest I can manage. Probly gunna have to put a cloth at the top of the door for comfort.

tip: if you have a loft/attic, with one of those square hole entrances, you can try jumping & hanging from that. That's my version of pull ups.

If I had an attic door I would just shove a pole up there and hang from that. Thats almost perfect.

I think girls can look good with well defined shoulders. Is that motivation enough for you? Think of all the extra attention and admiration. Seriously, all those shoulder pads in certain dresses are meant to define the shoulders a bit more.

You know armed forces have a specia(hard) way of doing pushups too. You gotta keep ur back straight as a rod for one. An level. So you might wanna check that as well.

Diamond Pushups - This variation is performed with your hands close together underneath your chest, the thumbs and forefingers of each hand touching each other. You lower yourself until your chest touches your hands and then push yourself back up. Diamond pushups places more stress on your triceps and will really help to fill them out..
