Seems every dude who watches the show does,
except this white guy I know who wants the
desi chick. I don't think she's all that attractive,
but she's one of the show's writers, so that's
kinda cool.

The 2nd season of the US version > anything the dirty British version was able to achieve.
Before 2nd Season, I'd have agreed with the lots that the British one was superior, but 2nd season has far surpassed any and every expectations.

He also improvised the whole bit about
how he makes egg salad sandwiches.
The script only had a line about how he
organizes wires (they were only establishing
how dull his life is) and then he just went
off on an overly detailed sandwich anecdote.
I love how he's so great at improv in real
life - even teaching an improv class - yet
his character in The Office is just so God
awful. "I have a gun!!"
His real life wife plays the real estate chick
and she used to be one of his improv students.

Pam's friggin' awesome in that department herself.
Rarely do you see goodlookin' chicks who've got
that kind of sense of humor, fully supporting and
helping Jim in his efforts to be an ass to Dwight.

I really like the UK version a lot better. The US version seems forced and contrived. The brilliance of the UK version lies in the fact that *everyone* on that show was a nobody before the show. It was entirely believable at first that the whole set was actually a real office, just with bizarre characters. The American Office doesn't have that.
In any, I think y'all should watch it first before reserving judgement.

That's a damn shame. It won the emmy for best comedy series
last night, and Steve Carell was nominated for best actor in a
comedy...but he lost to Tony Shaloub, who won for Monk...
also a kickass show.
