If your looking into it for uni, when i went down there last year it looks like a decent campus, with halls basically opposite what could be one of your lecture theaters
bad, theres fuck all to do! its miles out from other places so you'd atleast need your car, and most of it would be based around the SU which could get boring quick
but its meant to be a good uni, and i only just got up so can't think right now :ashamed:

It really depends what you look for, when i visited the uni, i was left unimpressed, don't get me wrong the place is great, great buildings facilities etc
but when i went i just had a feeling it wouldn't be my sort of place, coming from such a busy area most places feel a bit different, but that was just too much for me.
what other places are you looking at? and what course?

I applied to university of Kent(in cantebury) and i went to visit it...i think it's okay.I wouldn't say its a shithole coz it's got a big campus, nice scenery etc. I reckon most of the social life will be on campus (the SU), because canterbury is just dead. If you like the whole open spaced type university then apply there but if you prefer the busy lifestyle of a city, then don't go there.
After visiting Kent, i realised that i wanted to go to a uni in a city so i stayed in london. I just found Kent uni to be quite dead and boring. I mean the location is nice etc, but i reckon i would've got bored of it pretty quickly.
However the university has quite a good reputation and once your settled in, you'll meet loadsa people anyway so you'll end up liking it.
But in my opinion i didn't like it coz it was just sooo different from a london, and really dead. What are you planning to study?

Yeh i totally agree, the buildings and the scenery were all really nice, but it's just not my sort of place. I just thought to myself that i wouldn't mind spending a week here coz the place was really nice, but there's no way that i could spend 3 years here.
But then again some people like that type of atmosphere.

Kent is a shite uni unless you going to do sports or a teacher training course.
Plus the uni is a dump too.

ah right this is the impression which i got! from reading up on it on the net. i never really got a chance to visit it during the open day. im going to have to go along with what you and shamz said seeing as she lives in kent and reject this offer. i planned to study pharmacy btw. and to be honest what i had in mind was a Uni which is in the center of a highly populated metropolitan city, i dont think medway offers this. on top of that i have just left a multimillion pound state of the art college i cannot settle for anything less especially if its going to be for the next 4-5 years.

not the kent uni i saw.. by any means
angelic .. thats pretty much how i ended up staying in london too :p
nike - as said above the town will pretty much be dead with most events coming from the SU but in terms of facilities it should be upto standards. I couldn't be bothered to check out the gym when i went i was too bored, but from what i heard its meant to be amazing.

Well i reckon that if you want a uni located in a metropolitan city then don't go to Kent. It's literally in the middle of nowhere with cantebury town nearby, which isn't exactly buzzing.I always kept my options open when applying to uni, which is why i applied there because i think it's good to try different things it just makes you more open minded but i think it's important that your happy at uni.To be realistic if you're going to spend 3-4yrs there then it's not worth it.
Isn't Aston good for pharmacy?

yeh i'll be applying there again next year too. however like you said about being open minded, i would really like to try once in my lifetime to actually live on my own and see how things are without the 24 hour spoon feeding i get from my parents. im not complaining i do love the treatment but feel that this is really the chance for me to learn to be more self sufficient and if i miss this oppurtunity than i get this impression i'll always be a mommys boy.

Most likely. The area we were staying in was only built 3 years ago.
We took a visit to Central London and it was truly amazing aswell. ALOT nicer than Toronto.

okay i live in kent, been here for like 12 yrs...
kent uni as far as i know has an okay reputation and the facilities are pretty good. the canterbury campus is quite modern but if ur the sorta person whos expectin all this great nightlife then forget it...lol theres like 3 clubs in the whole of kent that are half decent...the asian population is lowww...theres hardly anything to do and there isnt a shisha place in sight...
im also doing a pharmacy related course and to be honest when i applied i pretended i didnt know kent uni did pharmacy (to my rents) so that id be able to apply and go to london and get the hell outta here. now im goin to queen mary for pharm chem :D

Yeh thats what i was thinking, come to London. Kings and Queen Mary's does pharmacy.Queen Mary's is a good place to go, coz there's plenty of cheap accomodation to rent nearby, it's not that expensive like the rest of london nand it has a great mix of people.

True, mile end is ok for rent. but when i said costs i meant in general, london prices are higher on the basic stuff too and it all adds up
theres also S.o.P .. school of pharmacy in london :D
