Yes guys i finally saw the magnum opus of mr.karan johar...and i must say it more than lived up to my expectations...never before for a movie i have waited so much or wanted to watch badly...Let me put somethings straight here...KANK is an ideal movie for those who are open-minded/liberal...the traditional audience will not like it for the most part...if you're the kind of person that appreciates something that defies the stereotype well than this movie is perfect...however, it falls short of being a masterpiece...Now some of you will absolutely think i'm insane but hey i'm not asking you to agree with me...just providing my opinion...
Story: need not to be told as it has been already mentioned countless number of times...
Music: the best soundtrack of the yr so far...beating Fanaa, Krrish, and Gangster...every song is perfectly placed and are lyrical gems
Rock and Roll Soniye, Tumhi Dheko Na, and Where's the Party tonite are a special mention due to their top class picturization...choreography is also laudable...The song MITWA electrifies the mood & ambiance of the film...
Cinematography is top class...simply mind blowing...one of the mainstays of the movie according to me since it gels well with the mood of the film
The deft execution of the subject and its presentation elevates the movie to an all together different level...simply bravo KJ...
Some of the memorable scences:
1) Amit Ji's speech after Rock N Roll Soniye is a shining personification of a CLASS ACT
2)Abhishek's outburst in 2 sequences with Rani is astounding...
3)The part where SRK reveals about his affair is also brilliantly executed and acted by SRK n Preity
and many more...
Now to the performances
SRK: doesn't need any introduction what so ever as he delivers a knockout performance...the movie belongs to him...amongst his finest performances...beats Veer Zaara and Kal Ho Na Ho and DDLJ...2nd only to his acting in Swades...
Rani: outstanding...altho i thought crying was overdone a little...brilliant nonetheless...Looks gorgeous in the saris!
Abhishek: i always knew that he's a good actor...but boy has this movie elevated his status...a power house of acting...simply his finest to date
Preity: altho she doesn't have ample footage she makes her presence felt and does a good job...AND she has never before looked so hot N sexy...lol
Amit Ji: shows exactly why he's an ICON of Bollywood...His transformation from a casanova to a serious father is awesome...
Kiron Kher Ji: She's good in a brief role
Arjun Rampal, Kajol, and John Abraham are equally able
The only deterrent in this movie is it's lengthy second half...had the editing been a lil more crip it wuda helped the movie further...
The mainstay of the movie: ample dose of comedy (mainly 1st half), melodious and vibrant music, deft execution of the subject, cinematography, soul-stirring performances!
ONCE AGAIN...THIS IS A MOVIE THAT WILL FIND TAKERS WHO APPRECIATE SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND ARE OPEN-MINDED...CONSERVATIVES FOR THE MOST POINT ARE GOING TO BE DISAPPOINTED BIG TIME...AND PLZZ DON'T HATE...THIS IS JUST MY REVIEW...
overall KANK is a progressive film which ROCKS!
Rating: 4/5
