Johar's movies are always star-heavy, but rarely has a weak script relied so completely on pretty people with big names to carry every line through.

wasn't as good as people made it out to be. having seen it now i would say it was very over hyped.

the first quarter had parts which had the whole audience in stitches but that was just to get the movie going. once the actual story kicked in..it wasn't all that.

yes some relationships have problems and yes affairs and divorces happen..the film showed this so i guess it did its job but i didnt like the ' and they lived happily eva after' typa ending (trying to not spoil it for others by givin too much away). and there were some scenes which we've just seen over and over and over again - like the whole..train leaves in 15 minutes so you'd better run and stop him before he leaves...forever!

definately not on par with the likes of veer zaara, k3g, kkhh, ddlj etc..in my opinion.

one thing though - it wasnt centred around shah rukh khan like so many other big named movies..each actor had an even role i would say.

you still have to watch it though just because its a big name movie with big actors.

what i like about it...the sets..the locations..the cinematography..the use of colour and their combinations and everythin..how the sets wer blendin and accentuating the actors and the story..in short..lots of style..lots of colour...very well done..

the acting of all the actors..well yeah they did do their bit..but somehow..there seemed to be somethin missing..like they wer doing their own thing..

If you want to see a realistic movie about cheating and marriage, see one of my favorite movies: Unfaithful. That shit really stings deep, especially after breaking up with someone due to cheating issues. I remember seeing it after breaking up with someone, that was really painful to watch. It was 100x better thank this KANK. Now THAT is more reality, than this. This just a story, about cheating, done in a bollywood sense.

All in all it was just ok timepass, really. Some funny parts, some silly, some drama, song and dance.

Nothing memorable, but highly forgetable.

Oh and Sharukh Khan is getting old and ugly

and the consequences of moving in were that they had sex, she got pregnant, etc etc...
if a 20-something couple that lived away from their parents and had their own places and they dated seriously... live in or not... they wud have had sex if they wanted to...

Ya, it was pretty dissapointing. It didn't have a lasting appeal and the movie dragged on and on senslessly. It was trying too hard to be a serious movie, when there were too much filmy aspects. I'm not complaining about that part, I mean I went in there expecting it to be very bollywoodish with the topic of cheating. The thing I'm complaining about is how you talk about "That's reality" No it's not, that was just a reality based topic, made bollywoodish, that's all. It's fiction.


If you want to see a realistic movie about cheating and marriage, see one of my favorite movies: Unfaithful. That shit really stings deep, especially after breaking up with someone due to cheating issues. I remember seeing it after breaking up with someone, that was really painful to watch. It was 100x better thank this KANK. Now THAT is more reality, than this. This just a story, about cheating, done in a bollywood sense.

All in all it was just ok timepass, really. Some funny parts, some silly, some drama, song and dance.

Nothing memorable, but highly forgetable.

Oh and Sharukh Khan is getting old and ugly

so my point is, that the film is making money, BEFORE the audience watches it...
so a film can be awful... and still make nuff money...

Just came back from watching the movie

Atrocious movie.

The plot has been utilized before, but not thoroughly in Bollywood, but still, the storyline and dialogue was pretty much inept.

Alot of loopholes and inexplicable moments hindered the movie.

Rani Mukargee, Abishek Bachan, Amitab Bachan, were all mediocre.

Preity Zinta was sublime in her role as the vindictive housewife, and Shah Rukh was adept as well as the obnoxious, constant whining Husband.

Karan Johar's worst movie, I think the death of his father affected him severely, because this movie was easily his worst to date. His direction was perturbing, awful and cringing all at the same time. Not to mention, his screenplay sucked. The songs were good though.


All in all, Shah Rukh and Preity had tour-de-force performances, and the songs were excellent. On the strength of that I give the movie a 3/10

Since when do sales translate to the QUALITY of a movie or a Music CD or whatever? Case in point, Crash generated miniscule profits(15-30 Million), yet it won the BEST PICTURE in the Oscars. Box office sales DO NOT reflect the quality of a movie. Qualitative movies are drowned out by the more inferior special effect/actions genre movies nowadays.

Yeah, KANK had a more pejorative twist to married life, but this theme of extra-marital affairs has been tested MANY TIMES outside of Bollywood. Heck Silcila, a movie that came out in 1979 thats shares a similar theme, shatters KANK in almost every aspect of film making. The theme of a bickering marrieds has been more effectively protrayed in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Chalte Chalte.

What is so GREAT about KANK besides the songs, and a few good performances?? The theme of antagonistic married couples had MAJOR potential, but it was dwarfed by an ATROCIOUS storyline, an even more predictable and nauseating screenplay, and some of the most trite direction that is becoming a norm in Bollywood.

BTW I'm FAR from a teeny bopper, and I am relatively a huge fan of SRK, but speaking from an objective perspective, this movie sucked.

KANK was not mind blowing... not something i walked out thinking "damn that was some movie" the only thing i liked abt it was that it touched on a different kindda topic... they actors were just normal.. not even above average...

the one scene in KANK i truly felt like was well done was when amitabh catches rani & srk at the station and he brings her home... she tries to prepare tea or something and the plate crashes and breaks... he stands up... looks at her with that look... that intense emotions with tear filled eyes... doesnt say anything and walks off... i felt for him at that point... his disappointment... his trust on a person he treated as a daughter...

like i said... i only like the topic approached thru this movie... nothing else appealed to me... the acting was just average... the comedy was a lil bold comparatively to other bolly flicks... songs were ok...

i would rate it 4.5/10
