there's respect in the sense that you can follow what you want and you cannot force someone to change their religion... but that doesn't mean you are not gonna get punished for following something other than Islam later.. for example, Islam condemns the beliefs of Christians that God took a son... but that does not mean you can't treat them with kindness, etc. God will deal with all the people in the next life. That line means 'you have your path, I have mine' Meaning, if someone chooses to convert out of Islam, you can try and coerce them back, but you can't attack them/punish them/execute them. To interpret it that way would make a mockery of the teachings of Islam. :idea:

No. :idea: It couldn't. The idea of 'idol' lends itself to the idea that the 'statue' itself holds power. This is not the case with a 'visual representation'... a statue of Shiv does not hold power, but only acts to channel your focus during meditation.

In effect, as this Ultimate Reality is Infinite, us, this idea of us being a part of the Devine, moulds itself into the fact that our 3 dimensional existence only exists as an illusion with respect to the Ultimate Reality which it is a part of. Thus..... in the Ultimate scheme of things, we do not exist as separate things..... but as a Whole. This Whole is God. When lends it self to our highest philosophy: There is ONLY God...... Sufis are the ones who meditate but they have alot of eastern influence and they are into strange stuff like the twirling dervishes..... but Mo'mins are the ones who have reached a higher level of faith in the Islamic sense.. once one become Mu'min (Mo'min) they have unaltering, strong, deep faith in their heart..

I've met a couple of Sufis in real life. They are some of the most peaceful people I have ever met.... very humble in themselves and the way they carry themselves.



Anyway, I hope I've cleared up misconceptions you have about Hinduism. Btw, there are no 'demigods' in Hindu mythology. [remember, Hindu mythology is different from Vedic Philosophy].

In the current environment, no Kashmiri group is going to claim responsibility. If they do, then their minders in Pakistan are not going to be very happy. The US is not going to be very happy either and may contemplate punishing Musharaff. Musharaff is then going to get really pissed and take it out on these guys. All said and done, the LeT and the JeM have a massive support base in Pakistan which has not been targetted by the government yet.

As I have stated before, Indian and Pakistani intelligence need to work together, otherwise the next deadly attacks might be in Pakistan. The aim of the attacks in Mumbai seemed to have been two fold -

1) Start communal tension and riots - and then radicalize Indian Muslims because they are going to get whipped anyway
2) Cause the ongoing peace effort between Indian and Pakistan to fail

Was this is a success? I hope not.
