The David Beckham of not only this World Cup but the past 4 years has been unrecognisable of the great one of the past.

In his Manchester United years he used to be the best crosser of the ball in the World, who remembers the good old Beckham Yorke/Cole combinations? The year Manchester United won the treble(1999) i think 80% of their goals came from bloody Beckham crosses and free kicks.

Is it just a coincidence that ever since he left united for Madrid his game started to deteriate to extremes? Have the Spanish ruined him by giving him too much of the red carpet treatment?

Or has fame really taken it’s tole in turning him into footballs biggest pre madonna? Is he concentrating too much on being a World icon rather then a footballer?

he doesnt have quick feet nor can he hold the ball, which precludes him from a lot of what it takes to make an impact in la liga. however, his commitment is absolute, he chases balls down and tries to win games right into the last second of injury time, and that for me is admirable.

in a recent poll, a huge majority of real madrid fans consider beckham to be the de facto leader of the side, and would like to see him be the captain if he spoke good spanish.

Although i mainly only watch Premiership football(hardly any la liga) that astonishes me.

He's never really been known for having quick feet, chasing balls down and putting his foot in, it's not Beckhams trademark. (not what he's best at doing) His trademark is to get crosses in to box for strikers to attack, swing in great set piece corners/freekicks etc. Has he been doing that for Real Madrid? I don't know.

He has always had the Stamina to Run 90+ minutes flat out. Remember against Greece??

But seems tht since his move to Spain, he hasnt been the same. Perhaps its the training programme at Madrid, where players spend more time showing off there skills and dont really focus on fitness and strength.

BTW......I saw his kids wen they got off the plane wen arriving back after the World Cup, and im Soooo gonna put a bet on tht one of his Kids grow up to be GAY :gay: :kekeke:

Yeah, those were absolute heroics against Greece, but it’s not what “made” Becks.

For me I can’t see it being anything else but the constant 24/7 fame and World Wide popularity/hype. It’s clearly got to him, he's not emotionally strong enough to cope with it.

Why will they grow up to be gay? LOLZ

He just got old.

Alot of players play to high standard well into their mid 30s. He's 31, and this decline in form began almost 3 years ago. (aged 28)
